No, Ocean’s 8 Doesn't Have a Postcredits Scene - Here's Why It Doesn't Need One

No, Ocean’s 8 Doesn't Have a Postcredits Scene - Here's Why It Doesn't Need One
Ocean's 8 is so fun, so slick, and so visually stunning (those Gowns) that by the time the credits finally start to roll, you might not want to get up right away. To be fair, a performance as spectacular as the one Anne Hathaway gives as seemingly airheaded actress Daphne Kluger deserves a moment of reflection at the end of the film. As does Cate Blanchett's collection of suits. And Sandra Bullock's charmingly gritty Debbie Ocean. And Rihanna's . . . well . . . it's Rihanna.

You know what? Everyone in this movie - and we mean everyone, because this A-list cast is to die for - knocks it out of the park. That being said, we wouldn't advise sticking around once the credits appear for any reason other than trying to catch your breath after their epic Met Gala heist. Ocean's 8 does not go the postcredits scene route, à la Marvel,

Awkwafina: ‘I was always the crazy one, the funny one. I’d do anything for a laugh’

When she’s starring alongside Sandra Bullock in Ocean’s 8 or rapping about her vagina on YouTube, she’s Awkwafina. But at home she’ll always be Nora Lum from Queens

The front desk clerk at the Beverly Hills Hotel is polite but puzzled. “Nora Lum? No, we have no one staying here of that name.” How about Awkwafina, I ask, spelling it out for him. He looks at me as though he thinks I might be messing with him. “Sorry, madam,” – is that a note of relief in his voice? – “no one of that name either.” I reach for my phone, but then I have an idea. Sandra Bullock? Suddenly I have the attention of all three front desk clerks. “This way, madam.”

“Who the fuck is Awkwafina? That’s everyone’s reaction,” laughs Nora Lum/Awkwafina (pronounced Aquafina) when I eventually find her. She and Bullock – or “Sandy

Ocean’s 8 review – all-girl gang doesn’t quite deliver the goods

Serious star power and slick direction can’t make up for an ensemble cast’s failure to gel

This all-girl riff on Steven Soderbergh’s deliciously slick Oceans trilogy is a fun-enough spin-off that centres around a revenge heist orchestrated by Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock), sister of George Clooney’s Danny. Her team comprises Ocean’s partner, a has-been, tax-evading fashion designer, a diamond expert (Mindy Kaling), stoner-hacker “Nine Ball” (a drily hilarious Rihanna), a pickpocketing, motormouthed teenager (comedian Awkwafina) and Sarah Paulson’s bored stay-at-home mum as the “fence” or go-between. Their plan is to steal a Cartier necklace from the unsuspecting neck of Bambi-eyed actress Daphne Kluger (Anne Hathaway) at the Met Gala and pin the blame on Debbie’s art dealer ex-boyfriend.

Some things work well, such as Hathaway, whose finely tuned facial expressions are the best thing about the film by a country mile; elastic smile and saucer eyes one minute,

Rihanna Playfully Shades Helena Bonham Carter's Fashion to Her Face
While Rihanna and Helena Bonham Carter's fashion choices could not be more different, they both regularly turn heads on the red carpet with their eclectic styles.  That said, RiRi couldn't help but playfully throw some shade at her Ocean's 8 co-star on The Graham Norton Show on Friday after they and fellow cast members Sandra BullockCate Blanchett and Sarah Paulson were asked if they had been to the annual Met Gala, one of the biggest celebrity fashion events. "I have not," Carter said. "That's 'cause you wear dresses like that," Rihanna said, pointing at her outfit. Carter, who wore a wild patterned silk dress,...

This Is Exactly How Much You'll See of George Clooney's Danny Ocean in Ocean's 8

This Is Exactly How Much You'll See of George Clooney's Danny Ocean in Ocean's 8
Warning: Extremely mild spoilers for Ocean's 8 below!

The cast for Ocean's 8 is chock-full of A-listers - Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, and more - but there's one actor who is noticeably absent from the all-star lineup: George Clooney. Although the Suburbicon director originated the role of heist mastermind Danny Ocean in the initial trilogy - Ocean's Eleven, Ocean's Twelve, and Ocean's Thirteen - the character has been killed off in the new spinoff, which it hinted at in the movie's thrilling trailer.

The slick caper follows Danny's sister, Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock), as she devises a plan to pull off a jewelry heist at New York City's yearly Met Gala after being released from prison. With the help of her eclectic all-female crew, Debbie schemes to rob one celebrity (Hathaway) of her jaw-dropping $100-million necklace at some point throughout the event.

7 Movies You Totally Forgot Rihanna Was In

7 Movies You Totally Forgot Rihanna Was In
Rihanna is making waves in Hollywood thanks to her starring role as Nine Ball in the all-female reboot of Ocean's 8. However, this should come as no surprise given the fact that this isn't the singer's first rodeo. Prior to Ocean's 8, Rihanna appeared in a few other projects, including Battleship and Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, and she also made cameos as herself in films like Bring It On: All or Nothing and This Is the End. Yes, Ocean's 8 might be Rihanna's biggest movie to date, but we have a feeling she's just getting started. Seriously, is there anything Rihanna can't do?

Rihanna Finally Gets Called Out For Stealing Wine Glasses, and You'll Love Her Response

Rihanna Finally Gets Called Out For Stealing Wine Glasses, and You'll Love Her Response
From Jamie Dornan gluing wig hair to his privates to David Beckham's reaction to Harper on a soccer field, Graham Norton certainly has a knack for getting scoop from his famous guests - and while we all knew of Rihanna's tendency to take her wine to go, never has the musician been called out for it publicly. When she joined The Graham Norton Show's red sofa on Thursday night to promote Ocean's 8 alongside her charismatic costars, the host was quick to point out Rihanna's "criminal" behavior with a slew of evidence showing her leaving clubs, hotels, and fashion shows with her chosen loot. Her response? "My mom is gonna see this." Never change, Rihanna.

How Ocean's 8's Costume Designer Pulled off This Year's Most Fashionable Heist

At the heart of Ocean’s 8, the new all-female reboot of the star-studded heist film franchise, is a fashion world scam with outrageously high stakes. Leaving prison after a five-year stint for fraud, Debbie Ocean (played by Sandra Bullock) swaps her regulation orange jumpsuit for a sequined evening dress, then gets to work planning a con that will see her and her gang of criminals steal a multi-million-dollar Cartier diamond necklace from an unsuspecting starlet (played by Anne Hathaway) at the most exclusive event in any A-lister’s calendar — the Met Gala. If this sounds difficult, spare a thought for costume designer Sarah Edwards, who was tasked not only with dressing eight leading ladies (an anomalous scenario in the film industry), but with recreating the most exclusive party of the year, complete with one-off designer gowns, celebrity cameos and, yes, Anna Wintour. So, how did she pull it off? First,

Joel Embiid's Message to Ladies, 'Taste the Process'

Rihanna Hits the Red Carpet Looking Like the Fifth Golden Ticket, and Willy Wonka Is Shook

Rihanna Hits the Red Carpet Looking Like the Fifth Golden Ticket, and Willy Wonka Is Shook
Rihanna arrived on the red carpet in London on Wednesday for the UK premiere of Ocean's 8, and honestly, Charlie Bucket must feel attacked. The singer and actress channeled one of Willy Wonka's golden tickets in a metallic gold Poiret dress (that would definitely look like a Hefty bag on anyone else) and struck a series of sexy poses for photographers.

Her Royal Bad Gal has been busier than ever this year, from her Fenty Beauty collection and Clara Lionel Foundation to hitting the big screen alongside Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett in the highly anticipated heist film, which was released last week. Something tells us she's not going to slow down anytime soon. Keep reading to see her gilded red carpet look.

‘Ocean’s 8′ Review

Stars: Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna, Richard Armitage, James Corden | Written by Gary Ross, Olivia Milch | Directed by Gary Ross

“Don’t do it for me. Don’t do it for you. Somewhere out there is an eight year old girl, lying in bed, dreaming of being a criminal. Do it for her.” So goes the best line in Ocean’s 8, the gender-flipped sort-of sequel to Steven Soderbergh’s noughties heist trilogy. Unfortunately, though the cast are great and it’s entirely watchable, the film isn’t quite as deliciously subversive or as much fun as that line would suggest.

Sandra Bullock plays Debbie Ocean, the hitherto unmentioned sister of George Clooney’s Danny, who is now apparently deceased. Having just spent five years in prison for fraud, thanks to a scurrilous ex (Richard Armitage) who ratted her out, Debbie

‘Ocean’s 8’ Review: Dir. Gary Ross (2018)

Ocean’s 8 review: ‘8’ girls just wanna have fun – and steal diamonds.

Ocean’s 8 review by Freda Cooper.

Ocean’s 8 review

An all-female Ocean’s 11 spin-off. Sounds contrived doesn’t it? It does and it is, but so is the whole heist movie tradition. And, in Ocean’s 8, Gary Ross doesn’t limit himself to just following the genre’s usual structure, he’s also assembled the mandatory starry cast, this time including the likes of Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter – and the obligatory singer, this time in the shape of Rihanna.

Comparisons are inevitable. With the 2016 all-woman Ghostbusters remake, although Ocean’s 8 is hardly likely to unleash anything like the venom that it attracted. And, of course, with the Clooney-led caper series, although it’s equally unlikely to attract the level of affection it’s accrued over the years. It falls somewhere in the middle, with
