- Amit was born in a small town in South India. He spent the first 25 years of his life in India but spent majority of his time in North India, thus making him an amalgamation of 2 separate cultures.He finished his MBA in Marketing and IT in 2000 and spent an year in a 'normal' job which drove him nuts. One fine day he quit the job and decided to pursue his passion in media. He got a lucky break and assisted renowned Hindi writer/producer Uday Prakash with his work ranging from writing TV scripts to documentaries to handling his business with various publishers to assisting him on productions. The 2 years with him sparked a passion and he decided to pursue a technical course in film and television to take it to the next level.
He came to New Zealand in 2003 to pursue a course in film and television. During the course of the year he found the passion for the medium which has driven him to make several experimental shorts, TVCs and music videos to hone his skills. Trained as a professional editor - directing and producing comes naturally to Amit because of his varied background.
In 2005, Amit made his directorial debut with 'Memories of Tomorrow', for which he won a 'Best Director' award at Microcinema Film Festival in Chicago. The movie screened at several film festivals across the world and has been praised by reviewers and audiences abroad. 'Memories of Tomorrow' got picked up for international sales by York Entertainment (USA) and is being distributed in NZ by Arkles Entertainment & by Force Entertainment in Australi. While greencine.com picked up the Video On Demand rights and the movie screened as 'Movie of the Week' on film.com
