The founder of Punk Pop Studio, Matt Willis-Jones is the writer and director of several award winning short films and music videos, blending the classical and the experimental with his trademark humour. Presently in post-production on his debut feature, the sci-fi comedy Atopia, as an artist he is also known for his portraiture work.
Background: After studying art and design at Middlesex Uni (London) he moved to Chicago to study film at Columbia College. A pioneer in digital art, in 1998 he had several works at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago in an exhibition of emerging digital artists, which led to a career in post-production - a vocation that perfectly blended his skills as a filmmaker and digital artist. Returning to London in 2001, he worked for Passion Pictures and Double Negative on TV series and films such as Batman Begins, before moving to Norway to finish the cult animation 'Free Jimmy' (un certain regard - Cannes 2006) and the Oscar winning Peter and the Wolf. In 2016 he moved to Mexico City where he lives with his wife and producer, Andrea Cartategui.
