Stars: Mischa Barton, Tracie Thoms, Bailey Anne Borders, Jackson Davis, Maria Volk, Kareem J. Grimes, Jessica Sonneborn, Sarah Nicklin, Pamela Wistrom, Cayleb Long, Christa Conley | Written by Brian M. Conley, Nathan Ives, Sean Decker | Directed by Brian M. Conley, Nathan Ives

Actress Mischa Barton, once beloved on TV’s The O.C., became something of a cause célèbre as her star fell following a number of personal problems - in much the same way as Lindsay Lohan did following her meteoric rise to fame – has recently carved out solid career in independent genre cinema after falling out of favour with the Hollywood mainstream. In fact, starting with her lead role in 2009′s Walled In, Barton has become something of a staple of indie horror: this year alone she’s credited as appearing in four horror films including this, her latest, The Basement - which has one hell of an intriguing premise…

The movie is Burman's directorial debut and it's sure to pique the interest of horror and sci-fi enthusiasts everywhere. ‘Never Open the Door’ Review

  • Nerdly
Stars: Jessica Sonneborn, Deborah Venegas, Kristina Page, Matt Aidan, Mike Wood, George Troester, Steven Richards | Written by Vito Trabucco, Chris Maltauro | Directed by Vito Trabucco

Even before they were popularised by Scream‘s slasher movie obsessive Randy, most of us were aware of the ‘rules’ of populating a horror movie. Don’t have sex. Don’t smoke weed. Don’t go off alone. And for heaven’s sake, stay away from Indian burial grounds. Lest we give Randy all the credit though, some horror movies have been giving away the rules for years – and in their title, no less.

Don’t Look Now, Don’t Go Near the Park, Don’t Hang Up, Don’t Go in the Woods, Don’t Open Till Christmas, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark (a somewhat ironic title, that), Don’t Go To Sleep… this naming convention was (and is) popular enough to

  • Nerdly
Maltauro Entertainment in association with Baumant Entertainment has announced the December 6th Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD release of Never Open the Door; the latest film from writer/director Vito Trabucco – the genius behind the awesome slasher movie Bloody Bloody Bible Camp. Along with writer/producer Christopher Maltauro the pair have created a chilling homage to the twisted and otherworldly tales of the original Twilight Zone, Outer Limits and Alfred Hitchcock Presents series.

Three happy couples retreat to a cozy secluded cabin in the woods to enjoy Thanksgiving. A badly wounded stranger appears at the door, and when they let him in, he throws up blood and collapses on the floor. As he dies, he points towards the lovers and croaks his final words: “Never open the door”. The dumbfounded group of friends start to panic as one of their own inexplicably disappears. Doubt rises by the minute and mistrust soaks through the cabin.

‘Sin’ (aka Bloody Bloody Bible Camp) DVD Review

  • Nerdly
Stars: Ivet Corvea, Jessica Sonneborn, Christopher Raff, Matthew Aidan, Ron Jeremy, Reggie Bannister, Tim Sullivan | Written by Vito Trabuco, Shelby McIntyre | Directed by Vito Trabucco

[Nb: With the film finally set for a UK DVD release under the title of Sin, some 2 years after its Us debut, here's my (old) review of Bloody Bloody Bible Camp from its original Us release]

Remember those ultra-gory slasher movies that were released to cash-in on the slasher-movie boom that followed the release of Friday the 13th? You know the ones, those that proliferated the shelves of video stores everywhere in the 80s? Well Sin, aka Bloody Bloody Bible Camp, is much like those – a low-budget, ultra-gory slasher, only this time round we’re treated to a gloriously camp take on the genre that sends up the movies it’s paying homage to, the catholic church, and Jesus Christ himself!

Sin, aka Bloody Bloody Bible Camp, opens with a 70s set prologue that straight away goes for the jugular as a group of miscreant teens at the Happy Day Bible Camp feel the wrath of Sister Mary Chopper who
