The grudge has been held for far too long. This year, we will finally see the end to this terrible grudge curse as “Ju-on: The Final” hits the theaters.
The Beginning Sees Its End in “Ju-on: The Final”
The previous installment, “Ju-on: The Beginning of the End,” has spun a new story for the horror franchise. Whereas the preceding films painted the husband, Takeo Saeki (Yasuhito Hida), as the villain who mercilessly killed his wife and son purely out of jealousy, “The Beginning of the End” reveals that there was more to the story than a simple massacre.
As it turned out, Takeo was possessed by the ghost of a certain Toshio Yamaga.
Ghost to Human to Ghost. Who Will Not Be Furious?
Yamaga was a victim of child abuse. After suffering from the hands of his own family, he was found dead in a bedroom closet, his hands and feet bound.

A new trailer for Shogo Kusano’s Empty has been uploaded to the film’s official YouTube channel.
Back in March, a 3+ minute “teaser” was released, but it was sort of repetitive and plodding. The new trailer is a bit more succinct.
The film stars Naoya Shimizu as a high school boy named Koban Kato with no family, friends, money or social presence. He does, however, possess a strange ability. Whenever he’s not being noticed by the people around him, he literally vanishes—leaving only his clothing behind.
One day, Koban is kicked out of his house and meets a girl named Sheena (Airi Taira), who also has no place to live. Sheena is fascinated by Koban’s special ability and has a suggestion of how they can make use of it together.
Soon, their antics cause the locals in their sleepy town to become convinced they’ve spotted...

A trailer for Shugo Kusano’s Empty has been uploaded to YouTube on the movie’s official channel.
Naoya Shimizu stars as Koban Kato, a high school student with no friends, family, or social presence. However, he does have the ability to “teleport” by suddenly vanishing whenever he’s not being noticed by people around him. In addition to this skill being inherently insulting to Koban, it’s also relatively useless because it strips him of all his clothes.
One day, Koban uses his ability after being kicked out of his house and meets a woman named Sheena (Airi Taira) who also has no place to live. Sheena is quite impressed with Koban’s teleporting, and quickly devises a plan to put it to good use. Soon, their antics cause the town to start believing there’s a kappa on the loose.
“Empty” will be screened at the Okinawa International...

The second chapter of the film adaptation of Naoki Urasawa's blockbuster sci fi thriller has just hit R1 DVD. Unfortunately, an attempt to juggle too many plots as well as a lead lacking any discernible charisma make The Last Hope something of a letdown.
For those unfamiliar with 20th Century Boys (2008) the overarching story follows a group of childhood pals who band together decades later when a notebook of their fantasy scribblings start coming true thanks to the machinations of the mysterious, masked "Friend." Led by idealistic failed musician Kenji (Toshiaki Karasawa), the reunited classmates attempt to remember the full extent of their apocalyptic vision while seeking the true identity of Friend.
The Last Hope takes up the story 15 years later, as Kenji's niece, Kanna (Airi Taira) attempts to keep her head low as the world comes fully under the sway of Friend-mania. World leaders and the everyman see...

Yeah, so, we’ve been paying pretty close attention to the details about Yukihiko Tsutsumi’s 20th Century Boys. We see no reason to stop now.
Toho announced yesterday which actress landed the role of the heroine in the upcoming live action version of the manga 20th Century Boys. Kanna, the niece of the protagonist Kenji (Toshiaki Karasawa), will be played by 23-year-old actress Airi Taira.
Although Kanna’s part in the first movie is minor, she plays a critical role in bridging the first two films and in the rest of the trilogy… the character is introduced as an infant in the first film and later takes on a pivotal role as a teenager in the second and third installments in the trilogy… The first installment opens on August 30, and the second is lined up for January 31, 2009.
