With over twenty years of experience in the 3D Animation Industry, Leo Sanchez Barbosa is a renowned reference in Character Modelling and a name consistently associated with some of the most successful productions of recent years.
He joined Disney Animation in 2006 as a Senior Modeller contributing in the development of characters such as Bolt, Glago (Glago's Guest); Flynn, Maximus and Rapunzel (Tangled); Lanny and Wayne (Prep and Landing holiday specials -VES nominated-) and many other memorable Disney favourite characters.
In 2010 he joined the Visual Development department at DreamWorks Animation as CG Character Designer working alongside the Animation Director, Director, Production Designer, etc. being fully involved in early concept designs achieving remarkable results such as in How To Train Your Dragon 2, with Hiccup, all the kids characters and the gigantic Bewilderbeat Alpha dragon.
It was in May 2012 when Leo founded his own Studio in Los Angeles in which all disciplines such as Look Dev, Rigging and Animation would be tightly brought together contributing to a much more solid character development practice. His studio has been crucially involved in exceptional productions such as Rovio's 2016 Angry Birds movie, Dreamwork's Dinotrux or the upcoming How To Train Your Dragon 3, Croods 2, Larrikins, Zodiac and Guillermo del Toro's Trollhunters series. Still under Hollywood's umbrella, the studio has proudly collaborated with Paramount Animation in Amusement Park and other imminent projects.
Beyond the feature production boundaries, new companies in VR, Toy Making and Gaming have started demanding Leo's expertise in CG quality character creation so the studio is now a heavyweight reference thanks to the work carried out for Facebook's Oculus Story, Nimble Collective and Valve Corporation, creating content in what is now a rich and varied production landscape including VR, Gaming and Toy Manufacturing.
