She is the founder and director of the Intersex Society of North
America (ISNA). She works to organize intersexed individuals to create
a voice against unnecessary genital surgery in infants and children, to
bring the voice of medically abused intersexed people into the debate
over standards of care for intersexed children, and to foster self
esteem in intersexed people.
