Hulu has debuted the trailer for the upcoming docu-series ‘Captive Audience.’
This is the story of how a story gets told, and how the media’s magnifying glass impacts the characters caught in the narrative. Siblings Ashley and Steven Stayner Jr. never knew their famous father Steven, the child victim of a shocking California kidnapping, who tragically died in an accident when they were young. In 1972, seven-year-old Steven went to school – and never came home. His mother Kay struggles to keep the media interested in the case and to hold her family together. Then, after seven years, a miracle: Steven returns. The media can’t get enough of the story and frantically descend on the Stayner home – but this isn’t the Hollywood ending it appears to be.
Now fourteen years old, Steven struggles to adapt, and his family grapples with life under the media microscope. Steven’s older brother...

Tom Holland takes on the role of an addict forced to rob banks to pay off his debt in trailer for “Cherry,” which dropped Thursday.
The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, who are from Cleveland, Ohio — the same place where Holland’s character is from. With a serious theme of drug addiction at the center of the crime drama, the Russos hope to shine a light on the impact of the opioid crisis.
“It’s a very emotionally important movie for us. That part of the country has been designated ground zero for the opioid crisis,” Joe Russo said in a Q&a with Inverse. “We’ve had a lot of people we were very close to die because of the crisis. Netflix has acquired “Mosul,” an Iraq War drama funded and produced by Anthony and Joe Russo’s production company Agbo, an individual with knowledge of the deal told TheWrap. 101 Studios was originally going to acquire the war drama, but talks fell through. Netflix will release “Mosul” in November 2020.
Matthew Michael Carnahan, who wrote the Agbo film “21 Bridges” starring the late Chadwick Boseman, wrote and directed “Mosul.” It’s inspired by an article in The New Yorker by Luke Mogelson about the Nineveh Swat team, an elite police squad of soldiers composed of local Iraqis all fighting Isis. The drama first premiered at the Venice International Film Festival, followed by Toronto.
Waleed Elgadi, Suhail Dabbach and Adam Bessa star in the film as a police squad moving block by block to reclaim their city from Isis, all while nursing their own personal traumas at the hands of the terrorist group.

Stan has swooped on Natalie Erika James’ feature debut Relic, with the film to premiere exclusively on the platform July 10.
The streaming service flagged today that the horror film forms part of series of brand new originals and theatrical releases it will announce over the coming weeks.
Relic marks the third local film to be strapped a Stan Original following Justin Kurzel’s True History of the Kelly Gang and Mairi Cameron’s The Second.
Relic, which bowed at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year to strong reviews, tells the story of Edna (Robyn Nevin), an elderly and widowed matriarch who goes missing. Her daughter Kay (Emily Mortimer) and granddaughter Sam (Bella Heathcote) must travel to their remote family home in the Melbourne countryside to find her, and soon after her return, they start to discover a sinister presence haunting the house and taking control of Edna.

IFC Films is bringing its latest horror film, “Relic,” exclusively to drive-in theaters for a week beginning July 3, ahead of the movie’s wider release in traditional theaters and VOD on July 10. “Relic” is the feature debut of Australian-Japanese writer, director, and producer Natalie Erika James, named by IndieWire as one of this year’s 20 rising women directors. Starring Emily Mortimer, Bella Heathcote, and Robyn Nevin, IFC Midnight acquired the film after it premiered at Sundance 2020 to raves. It currently has a 100 percent critical score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Mortimer plays a woman whose elderly mother (Nevin) mysteriously disappears, so she takes her daughter (Heathcote) to their dilapidated country home, where they discover clues of the matriarch’s increasing dementia.

Jason Bergsman has been named chief executive officer at Joe and Anthony Russo’s entertainment company Agbo.
Bergsman, a veteran of Peter Chernin’s The Chernin Group, will lead all strategy and business operations at the film and TV shop and report directly to the directing team behind “Avengers: Endgame.”
Founded in 2017, the company is riding high on the streaming success of its Netflix original film “Extraction.” The Chris Hemsworth action-thriller made a big social media splash, coinciding with the one-year anniversary of the release of the record-busting Marvel film.
“I feel very fortunate for many reasons,” Bergsman told Variety. “On one end of the spectrum, you have the brothers directing the biggest theatrical release in history. And after a week-and-a-half now, what looks like the biggest premiere in Netflix history. It’s a tremendous 12-month period.”
Bergsman will continue Agbo’s expansion into television and other arenas, where the...

In other changes, Angela Otstot becomes President of Creative, Jake Aust is upped to President of Physical Production, and Nicholas Anglewicz to COO.

Their last Avengers film, Endgame, became the highest grossing box office hit of all time, and the Agbo produced Extraction is on course to become the most viewed feature film on Netflix. Yesterday, Deadline revealed that a sequel is in the formative stages.

“Wayne” star Ciara Bravo is set to co-star with Tom Holland in Anthony and Joe Russo’s next film, “Cherry,” the sibling duo’s follow-up to the massive hit “Avengers: Endgame.”
The remaining ensemble includes “It” star Bill Skarsgard, Jack Reynor, Forrest Goodluck, Jeff Wahlberg, Michael Gandolfini and Kyle Harvey. The Russo brothers will direct the adaptation of Nico Walker’s New York Times bestselling novel. Production is currently under way.
“We were drawn to ‘Cherry’ given our personal experience from Cleveland, as well as the important need to share stories like these. After devoting at least seven years of their life to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Russo Brothers are about to make a drastic change.
