My Dad Wrote A Porno, the breakout British podcast, is finally set to be adapted for U.S. television with co-creator James Cooper revealing that a deal for the show is imminent.

What’s a fellow to do when he discovers his dear old dad’s been privately writing erotica out in the garden shed? For Jamie Morton, the answer was obvious: Read it aloud while his two best friends make fun of it and record it for a podcast. What Morton, nor his trusty sidekicks Alice Levine and James Cooper, could never have predicted was that their little passion project would turn into a comedy podcast with a massive cult following, boasting such illustrious fans as Elijah Wood, Michael Sheen, and Daisy Ridley, capable of filling venues as venerable as London’s Royal Albert Hall.
It’s called “My Dad Wrote a Porno,” and it’s one of the most addictive and instantly engaging offerings on the comedy podcast market, which is flooded with projects from aspiring to established comedians.

Earlier this month we learned that director Josh Boone (The Fault of Our Stars) would direct a big screen adaptation of Stephen King’s novel Revival. Boone was previously developing The Stand as a film but put it on hold to do this one first.
The story centers on a fascinating charismatic preacher named Charles Jacobs who starts to experiment with the supernatural powers of electricity after his family is killed in a gruesome car accident. He becomes a little crazy and denounces God and religion during a sermon. He is then banished from the town and becomes a sideshow huckster and a faith healer — using an electrical treatment to heal people.
According to EW, Boone is looking to cast Samuel L. Jackson in the role of the preacher, which would be an incredibly amazing role for Jackson to take on. Something like this could be one of the highlights of his movie career,...

Samuel L. Jackson has reportedly been approached about starring in Josh Boone's film adaptation of Stephen King's 2014 novel "Revival" says EW.
Should he join, Jackson would play the role of Charles Jacobs - a minister who loses his wife and child in a gruesome auto accident. Distraught, he denounces God and religion during a sermon and becomes a faith healer fueled by his lifelong experiments with electricity.
Said experiments help a young musician named Jamie Morton (still to be cast) overcome his drug problem. Jamie soon learns there's side effects to Jacobs' healing process, and the experiments ultimately reveal something shocking about the fate of humanity.
"The Fault in Our Stars" director Josh Boone is helming the project which he decided to pursue after temporarily putting his adaptation of King's ambitious opus "The Stand" on hold. Jackson has previously starred in two King adaptations - 2007's "1408" and the...

It was late last week when director Josh Boone pumped the breaks on his rendition of The Stand to focus on another Stephen King novel, Revival. Having already penned a script for the project, Boone’s adaptation is perhaps further along than many initially released, and now Entertainment Weekly reports that Samuel L. Jackson is in contention for a key part.
If EW is to be believed, The Hateful Eight star is circling the role of Reverend Charles Jacobs, a sinister and enigmatic character whose mere presence is enough to drive the residents of a small New England town to the brink of insanity. It’s a tragic role, too, given Jacobs loses his wife and child to a tragic accident, leading him down a dark role that results in dabbling with the supernatural.
First published in 2014, the official logline for Revival describes King’s thriller as so:

For those of you anticipating the big screen version of "The Stand," you're going to have to wait. Last week, Deadline reported that Warner Bros. option on the film rights has expired, and the project is now back in the hands of CBS Films, who can either go it alone, or find a studio to collaborate with. But director Josh Boone isn't going to wait around, and he's got another Stephen King project brewing. He'll be writing and directing an adaptation of "Revival," which is currently looking for a studio home. That process might be helped along by Samuel L. Jackson, who EW says is circling the lead role of Charles Jacobs, a preacher who loses faith when his wife and child are killed in a tragic accident. Here's the book synopsis: In a small New England town, over half a century ago, a shadow falls over a small boy playing with his toy soldiers.

I’ve been looking forward to seeing Josh Boone’s big screen adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand. It’s been a long time coming, but it looks like we’re going to have to wait a little longer. That’s ok, though! The Fault of Our Stars director is taking the time to to adapt another Stephen King novel called Revival.
The director still plans on making The Stand, but he’s looking to do Revival first. Boone wants this to be his next film project, and he has already written a script for the film, which he has handed over to Universal Pictures for their consideration.
I haven’t read the book yet, but I’ve heard that it's great. That’s not really surprising because King always tells great stories. The novel is officially described as follows:

If you've seen Stuck in Love, then you know Josh Boone is a huge Stephen King fan. The author has a key voice cameo in the film and his novel It is discussed passionately on more than one occasion. While Boone has been writing a big screen version of The Stand, he's now focused on adapting another, more recent, King novel: Revival.
Deadline reports that Boone is set to direct and has written the screenplay for a feature film adaptation of Revival, King's 2014 novel about a preacher's dangerous dealings with the healing powers of electricity—a nerve-jangling journey witnessed by his younger assistant. The completed script is now awaiting the green light at Universal, with Boone hoping to hit the gas pedal on the project and begin filming later this year with backing from producer Michael De Luca.

The Fault in Our Stars helmer Josh Boone has spent the last two years wrangling his big-screen rendition of Stephen King’s The Stand into shape. Last we reported, Matthew McConaughey was in line to play one of the lead villains, Randall Flagg, in a series that would seemingly span one single R-rated feature and even a Showtime miniseries.
But Deadline brings word that Boone has placed the sprawling adaptation on the shelf for the time being, filling his time by, well, adapting another Stephen King novel. This time it’s 2014’s Revival that’s poised to leap onto the silver screen, and word is that the director has already finalized a script. Working in tandem with producer Michael De Luca (The Social Network, Fifty Shades of Grey), the project has been pitched to Universal, though the outlet notes it may yet find a different home.

It has been a week and a bit now since I finished Stephen King’s latest and something happened: I laid down in bed ready to let sleep take me and the events of the novel came back to me, imagery and ideas so powerful that it wouldn’t let me go. Revival had a hold of me then and it still does now, with something about it affecting me on a deep personal level – something I haven’t felt reading a horror novel in a while now.
Revival begins in the early 60’s when a shadow falls over a young Jamie Morton – a shadow that will be hanging over him in the years to come. It is the new town minister Charles Jacobs and the two will go on to form a friendship over Jacobs’ simple experiments in electricity.

This year’s Blood List has named the 13 best genre scripts around town, and in its sixth year the annual screenplay contest is expanding its scope to include hot books, TV pilots, and young scribes ripe for signing. Taking top honors in 2014 is sci-fi thriller Bird Box from The Thing and Final Destination 5 scribe Eric Heisserer, an apocalyptic tale of a woman trying to lead her children to safety – all three blindfolded – after monsters descend on earth that turn people insane on sight. Universal set Heisserer to adapt the manuscript from Josh Malerman in 2013 for Mama helmer Andy Muschietti. Previous Blood List alumni include Black Swan, Stoker, Warm Bodies, and the upcoming Blumhouse thriller The Boy Next Door.

R.I.P. Emmy-winning television pioneer and comedy legend Sid Caesar died Wednesday at his home in Beverly Hills. He was 91. Caesar was one of the most beloved entertainers in America during the '50s and one of TV's first true superstars thanks to the success of his 90-minute sketch comedy/variety program Your Show of Shows, which eschewed the vaudeville-influenced slapstick comedy of the day for absurdist sketches containing characters and situations. Legendary actor, comedian and producer Carl Reiner praised his good friend, calling him the "greatest sketch comedian-monologist that television ever produced" in an interview with Knx-am in Los Angeles, via Variety.

My favorite author Stephen King has announced his next novel! It's called Revival, and it follows a preacher and a drug-addicted musician in the mid-twentieth century. It centers around faith and addiction. Here's King's full description of the book:
In a small New England town, over half a century ago, a shadow falls over a small boy playing with his toy soldiers. Jamie Morton looks up to see a striking man, the new minister. Charles Jacobs, along with his beautiful wife, will transform the local church. When tragedy strikes the Jacobs family, this charismatic preacher curses God, mocks all religious belief, and is banished from the shocked town.
