Eager for a rare opportunity for a new life on a new planet, a man has only one obstacle to overcome: find his wife. The trailer for Aleem Hossain's debut feature, After We Leave, looks spare yet inviting, accompanied by an entrancing musical theme and snatches of dialogue that impart an intense tone to the proceedings. Briefly, it "is a gritty sci-fi drama about a man who has a once-in-a-lifetime chance to emigrate off Earth... if only he can find his estranged wife and convince her to come with him." Tribeca Film Institute (Tfi) top brass said on Tuesday they had selected nine creators for the Tfi New Media Fund and the Tribeca All Access Interactive Prototype Fund.
The Tfi New Media Fund provides funds and support to non-fiction, social issue-driven media projects that integrate film with content across media platforms.
The fund is supported by Ford Foundation’s JustFilms Initiative and recipients get $50,000 and peer-to-peer support to develop their projects and build audience engagement.
The recipients are: Vr documentary Blackout, co-created and directed by Alexander Porter, and co-directed by Yasmin Elayat; and pop-up museum Micro, co-directed by Charles Philipp and Amanda Schochet.
The Taa Interactive Prototype Fund aims to connect technology and filmmaking and encourage the development of novel ideas.
The fiction portion of the Taa Interactive Prototype Fund is supported by the Time Warner Foundation, and the non-fiction element by the John D. and Catherine...

Wow. Central Division is one intense cop drama. The four episode first season will cost you ten minutes of your life in viewing time, but a lot more than that in reflection. I’ve never seen so many twists and turns in such a short span of time with no more than two characters and a body. The minimalist cast consists of Brian Silverman as Det. Alan Edwards and Clay Wilcox as Det. Frank Hodge. You’ve seen both of these guys on a smattering of tv shows from Life and Cold Case for Silverman’s part to Criminal Minds and Heroes on the Wilcox side of things. Though usually bit players in these shows, these two guys are displaying some serious acting chops here. Of course they seem to be in capable hands with the series creator-writer-director Aleem Hossain, who helmed the the sci-fi web series It Ends Today...
