Charlie Kaufman and 'Oc' Team Land Spooky Ikea-Parodying Dramedy at Fox

Charlie Kaufman and 'Oc' Team Land Spooky Ikea-Parodying Dramedy at Fox
Charlie Kaufman has long wanted to make a film with horror elements. When he and Spike Jonze were approached by Sony to make such a project, "We talked about things that we thought were really scary in the world, as opposed to horror movie conventions," Kaufman said in a 2008 interview. And that nascent idea became Kaufman's directorial debut "Synecdoche, New York." Now, Kaufman is returning to that idea of more traditional horror, with real-world scares, with "Horrorstör," a project he's cooking up with "The Oc" creator Jason Schwartz based on the book by Grady Hendrix. EW.com reports the Sex and the City prequel will follow a young Carrie Bradshaw in the 80s. This will be called The Carrie Diaries and is based on the novels by Candace Bushnell. Carrie will be “asking her first questions about love, sex, friendship and family, while exploring

CW Picks Up Secret Circle from Vampire Diaries Creators, Rachel Bilson’s Hart of Dixie

More CW news coming down the pipe. It’s been officially confirmed that the CW will be airing The Secret Circle, Hart of Dixie, Ringer and H8ER.

We’ve heard some casting news already for The Secret Circle, which is going to be a sort of sister show to The Vampire Diaries. It’s been developed by Diaries co-creator Kevin Williamson and is based on the book series of the same name (and written by Diaries scribe L.J. Smith). I really enjoy how open the CW is to these paranormal shows. Combining teen drama with witches and vampires can create some pretty intense shows. I was pretty hesitant towards these kinds of shows because I figured they were all trying to cash in on the Twilight craze, but they’re their own beasts and in fact came way before there was a Team Edward or Team Jacob (The Vampire
