Mini Bio (1)
Discovered in New York City by grand dame Jadin Wong, celebrity and socialite extraordinaire, who immediately signed him up after hearing him audition as Marius in "Empty Chairs at empty tables" from "Les Miserables". Started his U.S. film career as her protégé.
Graduated with Presidential Honors from Dartmouth College in Film and Theatre, in the same class year as Meryl Streep's son.
Paternal grandfather fought in the Northern Expedition with Sun Yat-sen from Canton to Peking in order to establish democracy in a unified China.
They were Ming Emperors who first established Beijing as the new capital of China during the 14th century.
Coincidentally, his agent, Jadin Wong, cast John Lone in this movie for Bernardo Bertolucci, who later used another of his schoolmates at the Conservatory of Paris, Louis Garrel for The Dreamers.
He trained at Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute with NYU in New York. His classmates included supermodel Carmen Kass. Kai Wong also trained at The Neighborhood Playhouse and lived next to The Atlantic Theatre Company in West Chelsea, New York, hoping to learn more as an understudy.
He first debuted in New York City at Saint Mark's Danspace in the Bowery, East Village. He performed at an anti-war piece directed by Mimi Stern Wolfe called 'War & Pieces'. He sang the lead as Vietcong soldier, as a protest against the Bush Administration's invasion of Iraq.
Kai Wong has been rumored to have been marked with the the "Evangel Curse".
Although he is of East Asian ethnicity, he has naturally brown eyes and medium brown hair which are deliberately darkened to midnight black in photo shoots to appear more stereotypically East Asian.
He told the agents that no Asian person he knew has black irises. Black hair, maybe. They did not believe him and insisted on only midnight black.
After being seen by agents at Elite Men in New York, fashion photographers insisted that he squint his eyes all the time in photo shoots in a slanty way to appear more "Asian" and stereotypical. He tolerated these caricatures and did as told. Yet, they further flattened his eyes in photos by way of Photoshop and color retouching. After that, they called him "handsome" and kept approaching him.
Because of this, he eventually told the agents at major model agencies in Manhattan "to fry their own fish, and to bake their own cookies". He believes that Beauty as we understand from fashion magazines is mere Indoctrinated Ideology.
He has been seen by Request, Major, Wilhelmina agencies before the more respectable agents at Elite Men helped him.
One agent even told him they don't take "chinks" and tore up his $2500 photo shoot without even seeing it. That company went bankrupt not long after September 11, 2001 and missed the China Boom.
Kai Wong once said that, "The fashion world is full of anorexic white men with agency-inflicted issues because of a few jealous agents who could never become the models they wanted to be. But that's ok, because everyone is born beautiful. The best model is a dead wooden mannequin."
He was shocked that many so-called white models from Europe were olive skin toned or pink and yellow toned and were artificially lightened and corrected to a pearl white in photos to create a deceptive "All American Whiteness".
Because of this, he told reporters that the fashion industry produced more bleached whiteness than Manhattan dentists. And that only African-Americans and Russians are good fashion agents, because one group knows how to celebrate color, while the other group knew enough about Soviet photographic doctoring to stay clear from that.
He was invited to perform at Westport Theatre run by the late 'Paul Newman' and his wife 'Joanne Woodward' but had to turn it down.
Natalie Portman attended his senior graduating Theatre piece starring Henry Gummer, Meryl Streep's son.
He visited Ireland and stayed in Soo-Jeong Ock, Galway, Limerick, Tralee and County Kerry. After discussing the aesthetics of poetry, he was invited by an Irish writer to live there as a hermit and to start a writing career as a poet after visiting James Joyce's ancestral home. He met Alan Hollinghurst and John Banville in person. He completed all these before college.
His favorite singers include Sinéad O'Connor, Björk and Madonna, the former for her voice, the latter for her passionate style, and the last for her sexual prowess.
He was born to an Atheist Marxist father who rejected and hated Christianity and Christians, and a Feminist mother who promoted Taoism and Buddhism. He was secretly raised by a Shaman, an uncle, and his secret lover.
Around 13, when he was converting his faith to Methodism, he was nearly killed in a speeding car crash.
His biological family discouraged him away from Christianity telling him that all religions are man-made and that Christians are for crazy people.
He rebelled against his parents. He ran away from home shortly thereafter to deliberately embrace the Christian lifestyle his family forbade. After that, they put his pet dog to death.
He also has another long scar running along his left eye when he was cut by a glass table. As a child, he split his skull open after an accident and to this day, a deep gash runs across the back of his head.
As a child, he survived a near fatal speeding car accident, around the time he converted to Christianity. His body was thrown about 22 feet away, and he broke his body. As a result, to this day, his left clavicle is shorter than his right.
When he first moved out to live alone in Manhattan to pursue Acting, he had nothing in his pocket except for a few coins jangling in his pocket.
