Nikolaus von Uthmann
- Writer
- Director
- Producer
Hamburg-born Nikolaus von Uthmann begins his career as a bilingual writer in print journalism and as a film critic for the magazines Prinz and Cinema (Germany), as well as What's On York (UK). During his Media Production studies at Cumbria College of Art & Design (graduating Bachelor of Arts with Honours and Distinction) in Carlisle/England he makes films, TV plays, animation, live TV shows, videos, and radio plays.
For his black comedy "Let's Stay Friends" (screenplay&director) he blows up his car and wins - not necessarily because of that - the Royal Televison Society Award.
He successfully completes the renowned screenplay program Authors' Stipend Nuremberg, gains a spot at the Tatort:Eifel Pro Pitch, and eventually dares to enter the freelance artists' life, where he earns his keep as a screenwriter, advertising creative and translator (from German to English and vice versa). Since then he's been writing stories for cinema, TV, and commercial campaigns, for e.g. Saxonia, Tivoli, Mona Film, youngfilms, H&V, Rat Pack, and Polyphon Pictures. Hardly any day goes by that Nikolaus von Uthmann doesn't invent new stories, characters or plots that all are held together by humour, heart, poise, and savvy.
