Angelina Jolie To Guest Edit BBC Radio 4 News & Current Affairs Programme ‘Today’
Angelina Jolie is to guest edit one of the UK’s flagship news and current affairs programmes, BBC Radio 4’s Today programme.

The Oscar-winning actress and Un Special Envoy, known for her work with refugees, is expected to invite a series of guests – including refugees and survivors of conflict – to discuss the global refugee crisis and solutions to violence against women in war zones.

A spokesperson for Jolie told the BBC she has already begun working with the Today programme team, saying the actress was “grateful for this opportunity to draw on the BBC’s global expertise and network to explore practical solutions to a number of pressing issues of our time.”

Jolie will serve as guest editor on 28 December. The UK broadcaster often invites celebrities and well known public figures to guest edit the Radio 4 show over the Christmas holiday period.

Game of Thrones” actress Natalie Dormer has signed a multi-year first-look deal with Fremantle. Under the terms of the agreement, Dormer and Fremantle will develop a slate of drama projects together.

Dormer, Fremantle and Mainstreet Pictures are currently developing “Vivling,” a series based on the life of British actress Vivien Leigh. The story will follow the highs and lows of the much-loved starlet who conquered Hollywood and give audiences a glimpse into the complex mind of the creative genius, per Fremantle’s Monday announcement.

“I am absolutely thrilled to be partnering with Fremantle,” Dormer said. “Their impressive slate reflects a dedication to the highest quality storytelling and the strength of their reputation internationally.”

Game of Thrones” star Natalie Dormer will develop a slate of scripted projects under a new first-look deal she has signed with Fremantle, including a TV drama about legendary actress Vivien Leigh.

The Vivien Leigh project, “Vivling,” will be made with Fremantle and U.K. shingle Mainstreet Pictures. It will follow the highs and lows of the much-loved star of “Gone With the Wind” who conquered Hollywood and will “give audiences a glimpse into the complex mind of the creative genius,” the producers said.

Steven Quale is set to direct the upcoming aquatic thriller Alphas, based on the screenplay by Frank Hannah (The Cooler).

The deep sea epic centers on a school of great white sharks terrorizing a coastal town. The only hope is a damaged killer whale who has been in solitary confinement for years after killing its trainer.

Producers include Academy Award-winning Nicolas Chartier for Voltage Pictures, Pierre Morel and Sentient Entertainment’s, Renee Tab and Christopher Tuffin. Jonathan Deckter, President and COO of Voltage Pictures will executive produce.

In addition to producing, Voltage Pictures will also finance the film and is handling worldwide sales for the VFX thriller.

‘Patient Zero’ Blu-ray and DVD Coming October 23rd

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced an October 23rd release date for director Stefan Ruzowitzky's pandemic thriller Patient Zero on Blu-ray and DVD. It is already available to purchase on Digital.

Patient Zero stars Matt Smith, Natalie Dormer and Stanley Tucci in a story about a small group of survivors looking for the first infected victim of a massive viral outbreak in hopes of discovering a cure. Smith's character is not only immune to the infected's bite, but can also communicate with them.

Sony is not including any bonus features on the Patient Zero Blu-ray or DVD. As the Blu-ray cover art below shows, a Digital copy will not be included.

Game of Thrones” and “Solo: A Star Wars Story” star Emilia Clarke will be on the jury of the Official Competition of the 62nd BFI London Film Festival, which runs Oct. 10-21. Another “Thrones” star, Natalie Dormer, is on the fest’s First Feature Competition jury, which hands out the Sutherland Award.

Aaron Glenane is honoured to be among the 10 finalists for this year’s Heath Ledger Scholarship, which will be announced by Australians in Film (AiF) on Friday local time.

“It’s very moving to have the support of AiF and the industry behind you,” the actor tells If from the Toronto set of his current production. “That says, ‘You’re doing all right, keep going.’”

The fellow finalists for the $US30,000 Scholarship are Harvey Zielinski, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Ezekiel Simat, Gemma Bird Matheson, Kipan Rothbury, Brenna Harding, Bethany Whitmore, Charmaine Bingwa and Nicholas Denton.

Harry Potter fans in London got a huge surprise Saturday morning when “Fantastic Beasts” co-stars Jude Law and Eddie Redmayne showed up to celebrate the annual “Back to Hogwarts” day at King’s Cross railway station.

The pair showed up at the iconic Platform 9 3/4 and aided in the annual countdown to 11 a.m. “Back to Hogwarts” day is the annual celebration, held every Sept. 1, that marks when Harry Potter and his fellow wizarding students return for the next Hogwarts school year in J.K. Rowling’s popular novel series.

Platform 9 3/4 at King’s Cross station is the (fictional) location where Potter boards the Hogwarts Express by running straight at the wall between platforms 9 and 10 at precisely 11 a.m.
