Daniel is a versatile photographer/cinematographer with 18+ years of
experience in narrative filmmaking, documentary and commercial
production.
After cutting his teeth in the post-communist television newsrooms in Romania, Daniel went on to study documentary filmmaking with the BBC School for Journalism and cinematography at Bucharest's National University of Drama and Film. His short film collaborations with director Gabriel Sandru and Lukas Huffman have appeared at the Cannes and Locarno Film Festivals. Since 2005, Daniel has worked as an independent filmmaker on several film productions in Romania and the United States.
Now living in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, Daniel is director of photography and video editor at UnderCurrent Productions. His commercial clients include the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Romanian Cultural Television, Orange, the Swiss Textile Federation and Connected Health Solutions/MyMediaLife.
A fine art photographer in his own right, Daniel enjoys collaborating with artists and musicians on creative video pieces. His credits include Dear Pina, a documentary about a Vermont dance performance inspired by Pina Bausch, music videos for Brother's Rye, The American Dollar, and video portraits of artists Bora Yoon, Salley Mavor and John Cira.
In his spare time, Daniel can be found biking the back roads of Cape Cod, fishing from his kayak, or tending the prolific kale patch in his backyard.
