- Editorial Department
Paul Shatto has been working as a music editor in Vancouver, Canada for more than two decades. His work history includes more than 700 individual episodes and features for industry establishments such as Netflix, Lionsgate, Disney, AMC, Hallmark & Lifetime. The titles span various production styles and media including feature films, musicals, series television, animation and advertising.
Over the course of his career Paul has shown a caring commitment to the vision of the filmmakers and their projects. He takes pride in facilitating requests and he embraces the challenges of unusual ideas. With these attributes, alongside hard work and a passion for quality, Paul has leveraged long-standing relationships with various industry entities including producers, directors, post supervisors, music supervisors, composers and sound houses.
Paul prides himself on his diversity of knowledge and interactions among departments. He is equally at home in a chair in the editorial office as he is on the dub stage reviewing a mix. And, also on the scoring stage: As an experienced score producer and mixer, Paul is comfortable overseeing the complicated transitions from MIDI demos to fully recorded and realized orchestral score. Composers and film-makers can be sure every note of music is exactly where it should be within each scene.
Says Paul:
"It's like speaking two languages and translating between them. One is that of storytelling with its emphasis on arc, character and tone. The other is, of course, the language of music."
Paul also has experience in the music industry. He is an award winning song producer and engineer with a litany of song and album titles to his credit.
In his free time Paul can usually be found cruising on his sailboat or collaborating with a songwriter in his studio.
