From entertainment to government, corporate boardrooms to start-up media ventures, Erik has a 25-year history leading large-scale communications strategies and teams that deliver growth, impact, and momentum. In the most cluttered marketplace in history, as audiences and fans become more segmented than ever, and old strategies are not living up to their past promises, Erik's blend of conventional and unconventional marketing has one goal: to help brands, products, and creators become as profitable and popular as possible.
Most recently, Erik served as Vice President of Marketing at Outback Presents, the leading independent, full-service promoter of live entertainment for more than 1,300 music and comedy shows, tours, and festivals annually.
Erik led a team of 22+ marketing professionals across traditional buying, social, publicity, digital, creative activations, and design with an emphasis on "eventized" campaigns, data-minded decisions, positive team culture, and marketing innovation -- generating millions of ticket sales for live music and comedy shows and tours.
Erik began his career in Washington, D.C. after graduating from college in Santa Barbara, California, and earning a Master's Degree from American University. Between 1994-2006 he served as a congressional press secretary, a campaign communications director, a communications advisor at the National Association of Broadcasters, a cabinet-level speechwriter, as the head of communications for the National Endowment for the Humanities.
In 2006, the Anschutz Film Group (AFG, sister company to Anschutz Entertainment Group) & Walden Media tapped Erik to serve as project manager for a major motion picture, and then as the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships & Outreach in Los Angeles. After working on multiple studio movies, he co-founded Different Drummer, a marketing and publicity firm that supported more than 100 entertainment campaigns for major movie studios, television networks, publishers, and music labels -- leveraging conventional and unconventional, technology and partnerships to deliver measurable results.
Expanding into distribution and executive producing in 2014, Erik and four investors built Aspiration Entertainment Ventures. The "script to screen" unconventional distribution and marketing company were behind dozens of influential movies.
He and his wife, Monica, and their three children live in Nashville, TN.
