April Yvette Thompson is an actor, writer and Tony-winning producer working across media. She has starred in the Off Broadway revival of "The Exonerated" (dir. Bob Balaban) with Stockard Channing & Delroy Lindo; as well as the smash Broadway hit, Clybourne Park, (Tony & Pulitzer for Best Play of the Year ). Her Off-Broadway credits include The Exonerated, Medea, King Lear and Macbeth. April's Film & Television credits include The Teacher, The Exonerated, Accidental Husband, Blue Caprice, Backwards, Phoebe in Wonderland, "Law & Order" & "Third Watch."

As SimonSays Entertainment Director of Development, April has produced Sundance Grand Jury Nominee films:Blue Caprice, Mother of George, Gun Hill Road as well as the Broadway revivals of Porgy & Bess (Tony for Best Musical Revival)and A Streetcar Named Desire.

April's second play, Good Bread Alley is in development with the support of New York Stage & Film, New York Theatre Workshop, The Arsht and Harlem Stage. Her first play, Liberty City (co-written w/Jessica Blank) was nominated for Drama Desk, Outer Critics, Lortel & AUDELCO awards during it's Off Broadway premiere at New York Theatre Workshop.
