Half Scottish and half Danish, born in Denmark in a small village on
the North Sea. Tilly grew up with her two older brothers, her father a
painter and her mother a teacher and craft maker.
Growing up in the countryside, Tilly has always had a great love for
nature and animals. She even rode her beloved pony "Bilbo" to the
little country school near by, tied him up and went to class. But this
country girl wanted to see the world! Growing up, she spent time in
Scotland and decided to live there when she was a teenager, to get
closer to her Scottish roots. That was just the first stop on her
journey around Europe and later America.
But her biggest dream was to live in New York City and at the age of 18
she made that dream come true. While studying documentary photography
at a local collage in New Jersey, she got accepted to Parson School of
Design in NYC. However, she struggled to make ends meet, with odd jobs
while continuing her photography. One night she was coat checking in a
trendy bar in Soho and got discovered as a model, and the adventurous
country girl, who had come a long way, since she left her village with
only her backpack, was about to discover a life-changing journey.
With in months, Tilly was flying all over the world shooting campaigns
for such prestigious clients as Cover Girl, Esprit, Banana Republic,
Avon and doing shows for Yves Saint Lauren, Burberry, Diesel and many
others. With Tilly's unique beauty and vibrant personality, it is no
surprise that she also became a regular face seen in numerous TV
commercials.
When she was a kid she drew "filmstrips" and showed them in a cardboard
box, she called it "Cinema Nights for Family and Friends." She always
had a love for storytelling, theater, and film and NYC seemed to be the
perfect place to explore that childhood passion even further. Tilly was
referred to Acting coach Jackie Bartone (AADA) in NYC and finished her
training in 2004. Shortly after she landed her first female lead in
Dark Horse, which was nominated in Cannes Film Festival and 15 other
festivals around the world. Tilly was nominated for her charming and
quirky performance as best actress in her native Denmark at The Zulu
Awards. Later she starred with Meg Ryan, Cloris Leachman and Annette
Bening in the movie The Woman.
Tilly lives in New York City and is keeping her craft alive, continuing
to develop and expand her creativity, studying with legendary Wynn
Handman.
