'20 Weeks': Film Review
Leaping more or less straight from "I'm not sure I want to have kids" to "What will we name him?," Leena Pendharkar's 20 Weeks charts all the stresses an unplanned pregnancy puts on a couple and nearly none of the fun that presumably happened along the way. Attractive and capably acted but oddly airless, the drama is a downer without offering much reward for our time. Keep those birth-control prescriptions filled, kids.

Trailer Watch: An Expectant Couple Faces a Difficult Decision in Leena Pendharkar’s “20 Weeks”

Most of the conversations surrounding abortion assume that women seek the medical procedure only when their pregnancies are unplanned. Leena Pendharkar’s new film, “20 Weeks,” focuses on another reproductive rights narrative: one that is too often ignored by the media and lawmakers alike.

20 Weeks” centers on Maya (Anna Margaret Hollyman) and Ronan (Amir Arison), a happy couple expecting their first baby. As the film’s trailer shows, they’re excited at Maya’s 20-week ultrasound. That is until their doctor notices something during the scan. “I’m sorry to have to tell you guys this,” the physician says. We don’t know what she tells Maya and Ronan, but it is clearly bad news.

Maya and Ronan realize that they will have to make a difficult decision. There’s an issue with the baby — something that will threaten its quality of life once it’s born.

Equality Now hosted their annual Make Equality Reality Gala this week at Gotham Hall in New York City.

The evening marked the organization’s 25th Anniversary and honored Gucci America President and CEO Susan Chokachi and A Breeze of Hope Foundation Founder Brisa De Angulo. The 2017 gala was Equality Now’s most successful ever and it raised more than $825,000 . It brought together a diverse and dynamic group of change makers, activists, celebrities and philanthropists to celebrate women who are committed to making the world a better place for women and girls. The event was underwritten by Vanguard of Change sponsor, InMaat Foundation.

The Blacklist” has been renewed for a 22-episode Season 5 at NBC, Variety has learned.

The series stars James Spader as Raymond “Red” Reddington, one of the FBI’s most wanted fugitives who suddenly turns himself in without explanation. He reveals that he has compiled a list of the worst criminals the world over that even the FBI doesn’t know about and will help catch all of them if rookie agent Elizabeth Keen is made his partner.

In additionto to Spader, the series stars Megan Boone, Diego Klattenhoff, Ryan Eggold, Harry Lennix, Amir Arison, Mozhan Marnò, and Hisham Tawfiq. Jon Bokenkamp created the series and executive produces along with John Eisendrath, John Davis, John Fox, Michael Watkins, Spader, Daniel Cerone, Lukas Reiter, Rick Orci, and Dan Knauf.
