'Scandal' recasts the First Daughter with 'Body of Proof' alum
There’s a new First Daughter in town. Scandal has tapped Body of Proof’s Mary Mouser to play Karen Grant, who was previously portrayed by Madeline Carroll, EW has learned exclusively.

Carroll first appeared on the ABC political fixer drama during season three as the First Family’s daughter visiting from boarding school. However, the actress could not return in season four due to scheduling issues. Mouser will take up the mantle in an episode slated for October.

Karen is now one of the president’s two surviving children after Rowan orchestrated the death of Jerry Jr. in the season finale.

It’s incredibly easy to forget a prominent member of a television drama has fictional children, especially when they’ve never been introduced on screen. But for a series like Scandal that is so tightly written, things are rarely mentioned without having some kind of significance. When it came to the children of Fitz and Mellie, it was only a matter of time before they were finally given an on screen presence. In fact, it was teased that the casting process had already begun to find the right young actors to play Jerry and Karen. As of right now, the search has come to an end; both roles have been filled. Strangely enough, the two actors have appeared on a few of the same series, though this will be the first time they’ll be featured together.

'Scandal': Dylan Minnette, Madeline Carroll cast as Fitz and Mellie's kids

A week after learning that "Scandal" was on the hunt for the Grant kids, the roles have been filled.

TVLine reports that Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) and Mellie's (Bellamy Young) children, Jerry and Karen, will be brought to life by Dylan Minnette and Madeline Carroll.

Both actors have a history with ABC. Minnette recently appeared in an episode of "Agents of Shield" and recurred as Jack Shephard's son on "Lost." He also played Jason Isaacs' son on the short-lived NBC drama "Awake."

Carroll has guest-starred on "Scandal" creator Shonda Rhimes' other series "Grey's Anatomy" and "Private Practice," as well as also turning in a guest spot on an episode of "Lost."

"Scandal" resumes Season 3 on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 10 p.m. Et/Pt on ABC with the 11th episode of 18. The Grant brood will make their debut in Episode 15.

The CW has found one of the leads for its pilot "Blink."

Madeline Carroll ("Mr. Popper's Penguins") will play Ari, the teenage daughter of a man who's left in a "coma-like" state after an accident, Deadline reports. The father can't speak or move, but he can still see and hear and will narrate the show from his vantage point in the hospital. Carroll's character is devastated by her dad's accident and spends a lot of time with him at the hospital.

The soon-to-be 17-year-old Carroll has a host of TV guest-star credits to her name, including spots on "NCIS," "Private Practice," "Grey's Anatomy" and "Cold Case."

Other pilot castings:

Jake McLaughlin, who played Alex’s brother Aaron on Grey’s Anatomy, joins Believe as a young man who is sprung from prison to protect a young girl with special, developing gifts from evil elements looking to co-opt her powers. Alfonso Cuaron (Children of Men), J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk (Fringe) are the executive producers.

Minnie Driver Joins 'About A Boy' Adaptation
NBC has cast Minnie Driver as the female lead in their adaptation of "About A Boy," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Driver will play Fiona, the role originated by Toni Collette in the 2002 film of the same name. "New Girl's" David Walton will play Will, an immature bachelor who befriends a boy who moves in next door with his slightly crazy mom (Driver).

Fiona is described as an "eccentric and quirky mother who is attempting to find herself following a recent divorce. She's in a stage of 'vegan throwback hippie-ness' and still sad about the split when she and her son move next door to Will to San Francisco in the hopes that they can improve their lives."

The pilot is being scripted by Jason Katims, the man behind the critically acclaimed adaptations of "Friday Night Lights" and "Parenthood" for the network. According to THR, Katims wrote the role with Driver in mind.
