Alan Veale

  • Writer
IMDbProStarmeterSee rank
Born in Manchester UK, Alan developed his creative imagination when given school homework to write a fairy story, at the age of 13! Always up for a challenge, the resulting praise for his efforts was motivation for seeing through many future projects. His life-long interest in theatre led to an outpouring of scripts, before early retirement from government service in 2009 brought an opportunity to tackle the ultimate challenge - to write a novel. The Murder Tree was based on a true crime from Victorian Glasgow, but with a modern-day twist. Further works of fiction followed, together with a memoir based on his mother's experience emigrating to Australia in 1949. In 2018 Alan returned to his acting roots, forming Jape Productions with two other actors. Two years later, the pandemic put a halt to the company's live shows, and Alan switched to writing and performing material that would be broadcast as audio dramas through Apple, Spotify and other podcast platforms. His work The Quiet One was selected for Season 3 of Michael Mau's A Blind Play of Social Forces in 2023.
