One of the many films we’re excited about seeing in the coming weeks is the dark survival thriller Blood Star. The film is set to make its UK debut at Grimmfest on 6th October, followed by a digital release across major platforms the very next day, 7th October. Directed by Lawrence Jacomelli and featuring a gripping performance by Britni Camacho (I’m A Virgo), this tense thriller promises to deliver a nerve-wracking cat-and-mouse chase with a powerful message. The film also stars John Schwab (Master of the Air), Sydney Brumfield, and Travis Lincoln Cox.
Blood Star follows the story of Bobbi Torres (Camacho), a young woman driving through the desert to reunite with her abusive boyfriend. Her plans are violently interrupted when a small-town Sheriff, played by Schwab, shoots her off the road, triggering a deadly game of survival. What ensues is a high-stakes chase through the barren landscape,...

Exclusive: A+E Networks Emea has commissioned a six-part series about flawed investigations into notorious killers from the U.S. and UK.
Woodcut Media is making Faces of Evil for Crime + Investigation. The series will explore the twists-and-turns of the flawed investigations into the likes of the so-called ‘Death House Landlady’ Dorothea Puente and ‘Kansas City Butcher’ Robert Berdella Jr.
Puente managed to fool everyone into thinking she was a harmless old lady for over a decade, before she was arraigned on nine counts of murder in California, while Berdella Jr kidnapped, raped and murdered at least six young men in the 1980s before the law finally caught up with him.
From the UK, the series will follow the cases of Billy Dunlop and Russell Bishop, both of whom managed to escape conviction for murders, respectively, of Julie Hogg and Nicola Fellows, and Karen Hadaway, despite compelling evidence against them. They...

Maverick film making as shown in the work of Norman J. Warren, the brilliant burned-out Michael Reeves and others is hard to come by. The French based an entire now-classic group of films known as The New Wave of the sixties. Scripts were often not complete, or bare ideas, ad hoc sets, lack of money, filming on the run with camera angles, cut and in some cases non-professional actors. This can yield some fascinating results on screen giving new talent in from and before the camera a chance to shine. It is unfair to compare a film like Gav Chuckie Steele’s The Shadow of Death with something iconic nor will I do that, yet the film is about telling a story making this appear to be ‘slapped together.’

Paramount+ has given the green light to a new British thriller series called Curfew, which sees all men kept indoors in the evenings. More on it below.
Not to be confused with 2019’s dystopian action series of the same name, which aired on Sky, a new British series titled Curfew is heading to Paramount+.
As reported by Deadline, the streaming service has just greenlit the new British series, which explores a society in which all men are bound by a curfew from 7pm to 7am as laid out in the Women’s Safety Act.
However, when a woman is found brutally murdered at night and left at a Women’s Safety Centre, police officer Pamela Green is convinced it’s the work of a man. But with the curfew in place and ankle monitors tracking the movements of every male in the country, how could this be?
