Is You Getting Too Repetitive?

Is You Getting Too Repetitive?
There's a fine line between a series offering familiarity and being formulaic. For the Netflix standout You, the series finds itself in a precarious situation ahead of its fourth season as the story's premise has become repetitive over its first three seasons. Adapted from the books written by Caroline Kepnes, show creators Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble must find a way to bring something fresh to Season 4 of You or risk falling down the same monotonous hole. After all, a story that sees its main character, the seemingly charming, yet secretly brutal Joe Goldberg played by Penn Badgley, carry out countless murders and face no repercussions begins to lose its believability with each escape from the law. While the premise of You faces questions of sustainability, there's still optimism approaching the new season that the tried-and-true delivery of the first three installments will have a different yet much-needed feel over the next 10 episodes.

All the Details About Netflix’s ‘You’ Season 4, from Fresh Faces to a New Location
Penn Badgley is back as Joe Goldberg for Season 4 of “You” on Netflix, and this time, the serial killer will be stalking on an international scale.

As a reminder for the murderer-with-a-heart-of-gold (kind of?) series, Season 3 of “You” centered on newly married father Joe (Badgley) falling for single-mother librarian Marienne (Tati Gabrielle) while struggling to find himself amid the horrors of suburban domesticity.

Spoilers: Season 3 concluded with Joe murdering his wife Love (Victoria Pedretti), giving away his infant son Henry, and setting out to stalk the “true” love of his life, Marienne, in Paris — after realizing he just can’t live without their steamy chemistry and soulful literary connection.

Based on Caroline Kepnes’ best-selling novels, “You” asks the sometimes sinister question: “What would you do for love?”

Per an official press statement, Season 4 will pick up after fans last saw Joe pursuing Marienne to Europe. “You” Season 4 premieres February 10. See

Antitrust Law Is Big Tech’s M&a Kryptonite – or Is It? | Pro Insight
In my last two weekly columns, I discussed M&a in the worlds of media and entertainment. Consider this the third in my M&a trilogy. Here I focus on perhaps the single biggest threat to all media and entertainment M&a — i.e., the Department of Justice (DOJ) and its increasing heightened antitrust scrutiny of proposed deals.

It’s that scrutiny — and even the perceived threat or expectation of that scrutiny — that is chilling the mega-media M&a air this fall season. After all, Big Tech’s problem certainly isn’t money. Rather, it’s the widely held belief that those Silicon Valley behemoths are too big, too controlling, too powerful and simply too destructive to smaller players and overall competition (and the consumers who benefit from a more vibrant playing field). Antitrust is the one seemingly sure stop to the otherwise unstoppable.

In an era of increasing schism in the U.

Why Producers’ Fights for Abortion Protection and Diversity on Sets Are Intertwined (Video)
Producers have to fight for a lot on behalf of everyone on their sets. They’re battling for the creative vision of the directors and writers, they’re dedicated to building sets free of harassment, abuse or Covid-19, they fight for diversity both in front of the camera and behind the scenes, and the latest challenge in a post-Roe v. Wade world involves making sure everyone has access to abortions and reproductive healthcare.

But as the panel of TheGrill’s Producers Roundtable presented by Gracenote on Wednesday explained, the fight between being inclusive and making sure people have access to reproductive healthcare are more intertwined than you might expect.

Tazbah Chavez, a producer on FX’s “Reservation Dogs,” explained that in order for her show to give opportunities and visibility to the indigenous tribes in Oklahoma, they need to film on location in a place that today does have a strict ban on abortions.
