Stephanie was born and raised in New York City. She began her performing career as a dancer studying at the School of American Ballet, but being the daughter of two opera singers, a professional singing career would most certainly be in her future. Her first professional acting job was in an Off-Broadway play at age 9. Throughout her childhood she continued studying dance while dabbling in theatre and commercials. At age 15, she landed a recurring role on ABC's All My Children (1970), and at 16, Stephanie chose to leave the School of American ballet to further pursue her career in acting and musical theatre. Since graduating high school, Stephanie has managed to work consistently in the theatre, both in New York City and across the country.

Most recently, Stephanie starred in the Los Angeles premiere of "Sondheim On Sondheim" at the International City Theatre, wrapping up a very busy year. 2015 began with the 20th Anniversary production of "Inside Out" in Burbank, which won both an Eddon Award and Robby Award for Best Ensemble Performance. Following the run, she jumped into her first Assistant Directing position with El Portal's critically acclaimed and award-winning production of "Sweeney Todd." She then cast her first full-length feature film, Offside, which served as an incredibly valuable, educational, and rewarding experience.

Other recent Los Angeles credits include "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" (Repertory East Playhouse), the Celebration Theatre's production of "The Next Fairy Tale" (World Premiere), and "The Apple Tree" with Crown City Theatre Company, where she was named one of the Best Lead Performers of the Year in Southern California by BroadwayWorld.com, along with Bill Pullman, Estelle Parsons, Julia Stiles, and Megan Mullally. On Broadway, she performed in Wonderful Town with Donna Murphy and Brooke Shields for its year-and-a-half run. Off-Broadway, she played leading roles in "The Occupation," and "A Night Sea Journey." Across the country, Stephanie performed in multiple plays and musicals including "Phantom" (Walnut Street Theatre), "The Student Prince," and "The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber" (both at Paper Mill Playhouse), "Master Class" (Portland Stage Company), "Children of Eden," and "A Chorus Line" (North Carolina Theatre), "Months On End" (Theatre 40), and "I Capture the Castle," directed by Cameron Watson (El Portal Theatre). Film/Television credits include the 2016 release of Henry Jaglom's _Ovation (2015/I)_, _Untold (2014/II)_, The Bold and the Beautiful (1987), Lifestories: Families in Crisis (1992) for HBO, Moving Mike (2008), Slow Day, All My Children (1970), and the animated short Oedipus (2004), which was honored at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival. As a writer, Stephanie's pilot "Truth In Advertising" won the Silver Prize in the Page International Screenwriting Awards, and was the runner-up in the Acclaim Film & Television Competition, both in 2003. Still writing, she is working on two other pilots, and her first screenplay.

In 2010, Stephanie married former Broadway actor turned producer, Nick Cavarra.
