Emmys 2018 exclusive: Paramount Television categories for ’13 Reasons Why,’ ‘The Alienist’ and more

In a Gold Derby exclusive, we have learned the category placements of the key Emmy Awards contenders for Paramount Television. For this season, the studio has limited series “The Alienist” (Daniel Bruhl), returning dramas “Berlin Station” (Richard Armitage), “Shooter” (Ryan Phillippe) and “13 Reasons Why” as part of their 2018 campaign.

Below, the list of Paramount Television lead, supporting and guest submissions for their programs produced for various networks. More names might be added by the studio on the final Emmy ballot. Also note that performers not included on this list may well be submitted by their personal reps.

Lee Daniels has signed on to executive produce the indie urban drama film Pimp.

Written and directed by Christine Crokos, the love story stars Keke Palmer (Akeelah and the Bee), Haley Ramm (The Originals), Aunjanue Ellis (The Help), Vanessa Morgan (Finding Carter), Mike E. Winfield (Conversations in L.A.), Edi Cathegi (Twilight) and Dmx.

Pimp marks the first film that Daniels — the writer-director-producer behind such hits as Empire, Star, Precious and The Butler — has executive produced. The impetus for his involvement stemmed from wanting to support a new generation of filmmakers with authentic voices and a unique approach to storytelling.

Say what you want about MTV’s television reboot of the Scream franchise, but it made for one hell of a ride, often getting darker and more disturbing than the Wes Craven films ever did. But even after turning in an incredible second season, declining ratings became impossible to overlook, though we could at least find some consolation in the fact that it’d been renewed for a third season to consist of six episodes. Needless to say, that’d provide ample time to wrap up some notably huge dangling threads.

LeBron James, ‘Lip Sync Battle’ Producers Bring ‘Do Or Dare’ Series To Facebook Watch

Facebook’s latest addition to Watch, a celebrity competition show, will see the likes of Usher, Jermaine Dupri, Candace Cameron-Bure, and Terrell Owens undertaking over-the-top challenges for charity.

Do Or Dare will be hosted by comedian James Davis (pictured above). In episode one, Usher and Dupri will compete on behalf of their charities -- Usher's New Look and the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, respectively -- with the winner taking home $25,000. Dares this season include crawling through a maze of mousetraps, going head-to-head with a sumo wrestler, and getting waxed. Other contestants include Gaten Matarazzo (Stranger Things), Tony Hale (Veep), singer Jason Derulo, Keke Palmer (Scream Queens), Yvonne Orji (Insecure), and pro baseball star Cc Sabathia.

Ashley Judd wanted to get back into the acting grind. The actress and political activist had been working off and on for the past several years, with key supporting roles in the Divergent trilogy and the Twin Peaks revival, but she had desires to return in front of the camera in a more significant way. Within three weeks of Judd articulating her wish, Berlin Station came calling.

“I have a really diverse life and I started to have a hankering to work,” the 49-year-old actress and political activist told Et during a recent sit-down in Beverly Hills, California. “My team came to me and said, ‘There’s this amazing show called Berlin Station.
