Mini Bio (1)
Alain burst on to the international film scoring scene 2 short years ago with his symphonic score for the animated feature The Legend of Silk Boy (2010) starring Jackie Chan. The score was a bona fide hit with fans and ranked higher among film music critics than Toy Story 3 (2010), Inception (2010) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011) while getting him named "Composer to Watch" by L.A.'s Film Music Magazine.
In early 2013 Alain provided orchestrations and conducting services for Neill Bloomkamp's sophomore effort _Elysium (I) (2013)_, starring Matt Damon and Jodie Foster. The score was recorded during three days under Alain's baton at the legendary Abbey Road Studios.
With his master's degree in composition, Alain brings to his craft the same level of training as the Golden Age composers whose footsteps he follows. He is composer-in-residence with the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra, and his music has been recorded and performed by musicians and orchestras around the world: the Russian Film Music Symphony Orchestra, the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra of Taipei and the Ramat-Gan Orchestra in Israel to name a few.
As an accomplished pianist, guitarist (electric and classical) and cellist, Alain is fluent in a variety of musical styles. His range is demonstrated in how effortlessly he navigates from the dark modernism of "Comforting Skin" to the bright Golden Age style of The Legend of Silk Boy (2010).
Alain also brings to the table a deep understanding of the mechanics of story, a background in visual storytelling and illustration. Through this he is able to guide and enhance the stories he scores without overwhelming them. Combine this with his determination, drive, work ethic and of his encyclopedic musical knowledge, it is clear why Alain is one of the rising stars of film scoring today.
