It's a surreal story about three friends who exchange heads by accident and are forced to adapt to each other's life and experience how they each live. Shariff Korver’s drama Do Not Hesitate in post-production - Production / Funding - Netherlands/Greece

The Venezuelan helmer’s second feature will star actors Joes Brauers, Spencer Bogaert and Tobias Kersloot in the lead roles. Shariff Korver’s new project, a suspense-drama entitled Do Not Hesitate, is now in post-production. The director’s feature debut, the thriller The Intruder, world-premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2014 and starred Nasrdin Dchar in the lead role. That flick revolved around the vicissitudes of a Dutch police officer called Sam, the son of a Moroccan family who is tasked with infiltrating a drug cartel. Mipcom: Dutch Features Acquires Local Thriller Series ‘Rogue Justice,’ ‘The Columnist’ (Exclusive)

The Netherlands-based company Dutch Features has acquired a pair of action-packed series, “Rogue Justice” and “The Columnist,” in the run up to Mipcom.

“Rogue Justice,” produced by leading Dutch company Pupkin Film, is mainly set on the tropical island of Bonaire and revolves around two elite cops Willem (Dennis van de Ven) and Theo who go rogue as they follow a trail of a stolen work of art.

The three-part miniseries, which will also be available as a feature-length film, is currently in production for the Dutch public broadcaster Npo 3. “Rogue Justice” is expected to be delivered early 2020.

“The Columnist,” meanwhile, is a revenge thriller starring Katja Herbers (“West World”) as a columnist who continuously has to deal with threats and negative comments on her social media pages. One day, she has had enough and decides to hunt down on her trolls.

Maj-id (Kenzari) is a talented kick boxer from a gray, anonymous suburb in the Netherlands. Whilst trying to support his family through petty crime, his fighting prowess brings him increasing notoriety in-and outside the ring. As the worlds of kickboxing and organized crime begin to blur into each another, Maj-id begins to lose sight of what it is he really wants and also those who are closest to him as well.

Wolf is a black and white film and is entirely in Dutch so therefore, unless you speak Dutch, you will have to read the subtitles. If either of those facts cause you to recoil in horror at even the thought of watching the film, then this definitely isn’t the one for you.

Toronto Film Festival completes lineup

The lineups for the Mavericks, Discovery, and Tiff Kids parts of the Toronto Film Festival were announced, wrapping up a series of lineup announcements for the Toronto International Film Festival.

With the added films, the festival’s entire slate is now a whopping 393 movies. Two hundred eighty-five of those movies are feature films, of which 143 are world premieres.

The Mavericks portion of the festival includes onstage discussions following the screening of each film. Do I Sound Gay? will be followed by a talk between director David Thorpe and sex-advice guru Dan Savage. Also premiering in that space is The 50 Year Argument,

Palme d’Or Winner, Studio Ghibli Pair, “St. Vincent” & “Song of the Sea” Among Tiff’s Final Wave Items

Bill Murray is coming to Toronto folks. Actually, the film he stars in (Theodore Melfi’s St. Vincent) is having its official World Premiere launch at the jaw-dropping 285 feature film 2014 Tiff line-up. In the final batch of items we finally get the confirmation that 2014′s Palme d’Or Winner Winter Sleep (which gets added along with a trio of others to the Masters Programme) will show, and Tomm Moore’s highly anticipated Song of the Sea (among the four item line-up for Tiff Kids) also lands. Worth mentioning are the sprinkling of add-ons to the various other sections (Marjane Satrapi’s Sundance preemed The Voices, Matt Shakman’s Cut Bank and the world preem of Danis Tanovic’s Tigers) with a Studio Ghibli docu item being fitted into the Tiff Docs, but it is the Discovery Programme that finally takes shape.

Wolf tells of an ex-con whose fighting skills suck him into a savage world of organised crime.

Wolf hot seller for Xyz

Exclusive: Xyz Films has closed a raft of key European deals on Dutch crime thriller Wolf ahead of the film’s release in the Netherlands on September 19.

Xyz Films introduced sales in Toronto on the story, written and directed by Jim Taihuttu, about a recently released man whose Mma skills suck him into a violent and lawless world.

Deals closed with StudioCanal in the UK, Capelight Pictures in Germany and Movies Inspired in Italy.

Wolf is set to receive its festival premiere in the New Directors section of San Sebastian and its North American premiere at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas.

Between 10 and 12 begins shoot

Real-time ensemble drama begins filming in Rotterdam.

Peter Hoogendoorn’s debut feature, a real time ensemble drama produced by Keren Cogan Films and Phanta Film and co-producers Limited (France), Mindsmeet (Belgium) and Dutch broadcaster Avro has begun.

The film will be released in Dutch cinemas by Amstelfilm in 2014.

Set on a typical summer’s day, a devastating piece of news is delivered by two officers in a police car that changes the lives of a family forever. As the journey progresses, the vehicle becomes more crowded with family members and reveals their inner turmoil.

Hoogendoorn developed the script at the Binger Filmlab in Amsterdam. The project was presented at the CineMart at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2010. The film is supported by Eurimages, the Dutch Film Fund, Screen Flanders, Region Alsace and CoBO and will be distributed by Amstelfilm.

Xyz Films to sell Wolf
The Los Angeles-based company has taken on all rights excluding Benelux to Jim Taihuttu’s Dutch crime thriller and will start talks with buyers in Toronto.

Wolf will premiere in New Directors at the San Sebastian International Film Festival and stars Marwan Kenzari, Nasrdin Dchar, Raymond Thiry and Slimane Dazi.

The story follows an ex-con who enters the world of mixed martial arts.

Julius Ponten of Habbekrats produced for Production Partners Ntr with Nederlands Filmfonds, Mediafonds, CoBO-Fonds, Fei Productions and TopNotch.
