Risto Tuominen earned a Master of Fine Arts in Directing from the American Film Institute in Los Angeles. His thesis short film "Tides" won the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Production Award and was nominated for Best Short Film of 2015 by NewFilmmakers Los Angeles. Tuominen has extensive experience as an assistant director on numerous feature films, television series, and commercials. He also served as an army officer in the Finnish Defence Forces, contributing to peacekeeping efforts in Afghanistan. Tuominen is currently developing his debut feature film, "Pimeän arkkitehti" (The Dark Architect), based on a novel by Finland's leading horror author, Marko Hautala.
