Balazs Simonyi (1980, Budapest) is a European Film Award shortlisted filmmaker. He graduated in Literature & Film & Art Theory (Aesthetics), and is completing his PhD also in Art Theory. He works as a director and producer since 2002. His films have been screened at major festivals, from Cannes to Cracow, from Seattle to Clermont-Ferrand and Seoul.
He has won several awards, like the CamerImage, the Audience Award at Asiana Film Festival, and the French Cinema Distributors' (GRAC) prize. His films has been broadcasted all over in Europe, and the short films in the USA and Japan. He is also an organizer and selector of the Budapest Short Film Festival (BuSho).
