Trivia:

Must be one of the few performers who got two obituaries in the New York Times. The Japanese reported him dead of poisoning in 1943 which the Times posted as unconfirmed along with a review of Lanfang's career. Interesting that he died on August 8, the same day and month given in the premature obituary.
