Gillian Barclay

Gillian Barclay was born in Sale Manchester, the younger daughter of
Glaswegian parents, moving to Wimbledon at the age of two. She attended
Wimbledon High School for Girls before entering the Royal Academy of
Dramatic Art. Though making guest appearances in TV dramas her main
body of work was in theatre in Southampton, Portsmouth, Northampton,
Oxford, & The Lyric theatre Hammersmith ('Under Milk Wood'). Tours
included 'Billy Liar' with Lynn Redgrave & Trevor Bannister & 'As Long
As They're Happy'. She was the first actor to play the part of Mariette
Larkin on stage in 'The Darling Buds of May'. She played the title role
in 'The Reluctant Debutant' with Jack Hulbert & Opposite Claude Hulbert
in 'See How They Run'. She Played Becky Sharpe in 'Vanity Fair', Sally
Bowles in 'I Am a Camera', the title role in 'Gigi'. In 1979 was in the
Royal opening production at Polka Childrens Theatre. Other productions
include leads in 'The Living Room', 'The Moon is Blue', 'Much Ado About
Nothing', 'Blythe Spirit', 'Charlie's Aunt', 'The Rivals', 'Dinner with
the Family', 'The Constant Wife', & 'Intimate Relations'.
