Daytime TV Still Draws Top Talent Despite Some High-Profile Failures
Megyn Kelly may have flamed out spectacularly in NBC’s 9 a.m. time period, but that has not torched the daytime TV landscape for high-profile talent. New entries featuring Mel Robbins, Kelly Clarkson, Tamron Hall and RuPaul are all in the works. Even former Trump White House aide Sean Spicer is in the very early stages of developing a daytime talker with syndicator Debmar-Mercury. Top talent is still able to command top dollar in what was, decades ago, referred to as the “housewife” daypart: Clarkson’s deal to host an upcoming talk show from NBC-Universal Domestic TV Distribution will earn her more than $7 million in the first year.

But the road to daytime traveled by the current wave of incoming talent is littered with bodies. Clarkson is effectively taking the slot vacated by Steve Harvey, whose show withered after he left Chicago and producer Endemol Shine for Los Angeles and

After Megyn Kelly, Madison Avenue Expects a More Traditional ‘Today’

  • Variety
Going forward, the 9 a.m. hour of NBC’s “Today” is likely to be more about the show than the anchors who host it.

With Megyn Kelly in discussions with NBC about her future at the network, media-buying executives say they expect the Peacock to return the third hour of its morning franchise to a more traditional format. Gone is “Megyn Kelly Today,” and in its place, well, “Today,” the TV brand that has been associated with morning TV since the middle of January in 1952. One ad buying executive suggested NBC could make an announcement in the near future regarding talent for the hour and indicated the network would likely position the move as “a host change within the ‘Today Show’ line-up” rather than a cancellation of Kelly’s program.

“’Megyn Kelly Today’ is not returning,” NBC said Friday. “Next week, the 9 a.m. hour will be hosted by other ‘Today’ co-anchors.

For TV’s Morning Shows, Juggling Anchors Is Part of the Act
Bianna Golodryga has filled in at the desk of “CBS This Morning” so many times in recent months that when she recently woke up and saw the show on TV, she feared she had overslept. “Had I slept in?” she asked. “It has felt so natural to be there.”

No more questions about alarm-clock settings. Golodryga was named the show’s fourth co-anchor this week – just the latest in a recent parade of tweaks to the nation’s big morning programs. Once a place where the same hosts would greet viewers each day ad infinitum –Joan Lunden held forth on ABC’s “Good Morning America” for 17 years – A.M. news shows in this era make changes nearly every few months.

At a time when consumers are just as happy to reach for their smartphone for news as they are for the TV remote, the shows can’t afford to stand pat.

Lara Spencer Deletes Pic Of Her Emmys Outfit After Being Shamed For Her 'Saggy Knees'

TV personality Lara Spencer seemingly adored her 2018 Emmys dress until internet haters sadly body-shamed the Good Morning America co-anchor for having "saggy knees." At the Monday, Sept. 16 event, Lara flaunted her long, beautiful legs in a silver Alice and Olivia dress with a pair of matching boots and a few spiky bracelets. She looked absolutely amazing, but online critics, however, thought Lara's look was a bit too revealing for a 49-year-old mother to wear. "Love you, watch you every day but you're a mom. What the hell [is] with that outfit? Would have embarrassed my kids," one person wrote on Instagram according to Yahoo!. Another said, "You're not a 20-year-old and [you] look foolish dressed as such. Good body does not allow you to dress like a child at your age." Ouch! View this post on Instagram Dapper. Divine. Delightful. ❤️ you. A post shared by Lara Spencer (@lara.spencer) on Sep 17, 2018 at
