Nude Madonna And Guy Ritchie Painting Fails To Sell At Auction

A nude painting in oil of Madonna and her ex-husband Guy Ritchie has failed to sell at a recent auction in Glasgow.

The art by acclaimed Scottist artist Peter Howson had a reserved price of 15,000 pounds or around ,000 at McTear's Auctioneers.

Although there were some who expressed interest, no one met the reserved price.

The auction house's director, Brian Clements, told BBC, "The auction was very successful, however, surprisingly Peter Howson's controversial piece Madonna and Guy did not sell on the day."

Madonna And Guy Ritchie's Nude Painting To Be Sold At Auction

The nude painting of pop superstar Madonna with her ex-husband Guy Ritchie will be sold under the hammer this week in Scotland.

Artist Peter Howson's controversial depiction of the former couple in oil was painted in 2005. It is expected to fetch up to ,000 when it goes on sale at the McTear's Scottish Contemporary Art Auction in Glasgow on Saturday from a private collector.

The auction house's Brian Clements tells the Telegraph, "There is no doubt that the recent split of Madonna and Guy has generated increased interest in the painting."

"The painting created a huge amount of controversy when it was unveiled a few years ago and I think it's safe to say it is one of a kind."
