The 7 Best Movies New to Netflix in May 2018

It’s almost summer, and you know what that means: Some of last year’s best films are finally beginning to stream on Netflix! It means other things too, we suppose, but none of them could possibly be as important as the ability to watch Agnès Varda heart-bursting new documentary whenever the mood strikes (even die-hard defenders of the theatrical experience can appreciate the magic of being able to re-visit their favorite part of “Faces Places” anywhere they can find a cell phone signal).

Fingers crossed that the streaming giant will give a second life to the under-seen “God’s Own Country,” a beautiful 2017 release that never got the degree of attention — or the number of screens — that it deserved when it came stateside in October. These recent essentials highlight the strong crop of movies that are new on Netflix this month, as the service complements the best of 2017 with

Mandy Moore Becomes The Face Of The Rinse, Recycle, Repeat Campaign

Nearly half of Americans do not recycle their beauty and personal care products, which is why they account for a significant amount of waste found in landfills.

Video: Rinse, Recycle, Repeat with Mandy Moore

With this insight, Garnier partnered with TerraCycle and DoSomething.org, the largest organization for young people and social change, to launch the second year of Rinse, Recycle, Repeat. The goal of this national campaign and college campus competition is to educate young people on how to responsibly recycle in the bathroom and divert beauty empties from landfills. Once collected, TerraCycle will recycle the packaging into pelletized lumber and create materials to build Garnier Green Gardens such as picnic tables, playground equipment, benches and garden beds.

Garnier’s Brand Ambassador, Mandy Moore, serves as the face of the campaign this year and stars in a public service announcement educating young people about how to responsibly recycle bathroom empties.

Film Review: ‘Freak Show’

Film Review: ‘Freak Show’
“Buckle up, darlings,” warns Billy Bloom, the adolescent protagonist of “Freak Show,” with his most salacious Bette Davis sneer. “I’m gonna take you on a little ride I call my life.” For a second, you sense some affectionate irony in Trudie Styler’s well-intentioned but woolly directorial debut: After all, many’s the privileged suburban teenager who has declared their life wilder and wackier than anyone else’s.

It doesn’t take long to realize, however, that “Freak Show” takes Billy (gamely played by British rising star Alex Lawther) entirely at his word. An out-and-proud, drag-loving high-schooler who delights in subverting masculine norms — and wears his resulting social isolation as a badge of honor — he’s certainly a beautiful misfit. Yet Styler’s surface-level adaptation of James St. James’ queer bildungsroman shows us more of Billy’s eye-popping wardrobe than his soul, as his superficially defined exceptionalism tilts ever less endearingly into narcissism; we leave this carnival-colored

Official Trailer for Underrated Indie 'Freak Show' Starring Alex Lawther

"What am I going to do with you?" IFC Films has debuted an official Us trailer for an underrated indie dramedy titled Freak Show, which played under-the-radar at a few festivals this year after premiering in Berlin. But I'm guessing most people haven't heard of it. Freak Show is about a "fabulous, glitter-bedecked, gender-bending teenager" named Billy Bloom, played by up-and-coming young actor Alex Lawther, and his experiences at a public high school. It tells a very peculiar story of how to be who you are and not let it affect you, even if you're a freak or weirdo or whatever. His mother is played by Bette Midler, and the cast includes Laverne Cox, Ian Nelson, Abigail Breslin, and AnnaSophia Robb. This is actually a very entertaining film that is worth seeking out, no really. I first saw this at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival in the summer, and wrote a review here.
