Michael Bay, Ryan Reynolds Team for Netflix Six Underground Franchise
Michael Bay is making a movie with Ryan Reynolds for Netflix. The world's largest streaming service is officially getting into the Bayhem game, as they have made a deal for the director's next movie. Reynolds, coming fresh of Deadpool 2, is set to star in the movie, which is titled Six Underground. Beyond that, there are precious few details currently available, but what is known is enough to make the project well worth paying attention to.

We initially reported back in March that the relatively mysterious Six Underground was going to be one of Michael Bay's next two projects. He's also on board to direct Robopocalypse, which was supposed to be a Steven Spielberg movie for quite some time, but his plate became a bit too full with other projects. While Robopocalypse still sits on the shelf, Six Underground got going first, with Netflix coming in to pony up the

Michael Bay to direct Ryan Reynolds in Six Underground

Having finished up with the Transformers franchise with last year’s Transformers: The Last Knight, it was announced back in March that Michael Bay would be next directing the action thriller Six Underground.

Well, Deadline is reporting that Ryan Reynolds has now signed on to star in the movie, which has been scripted by Deadpool and Deadpool 2 screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese. Meanwhile, Netflix has also come on board to finance the project to the tune of $150 million, making it the streaming service’s biggest budget feature project to date.

Plot details for Six Underground are being kept under wraps, but it is described as “a high testosterone mission movie”, with ambitions of becoming a franchise. In addition to directing, Bay will also serve as producer alongside David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger of Skydance Productions.

Ryan Reynolds, Michael Bay Team for Netflix’s ‘Six Underground’
Michael Bay and Ryan Reynolds are the latest A-listers headed to Netflix.

Netflix will co-finance and distribute Bay’s next film, “Six Underground” starring Reynolds, marking the first time the director and actor will be working with the streaming service.

The pic will be a co-production between Netflix and Skydance, who will help with financing.

Several suitors had lined up to distribute and co-finance the movie, including Bay’s home studio Paramount, but in the end, Netflix won out after it committed to Bay’s budget of around $125 million, making it one of the streamer’s biggest productions ever — behind Martin Scorsese’s mob epic “The Irishman” and on par with David Ayer’s “Bright.”

The deal is another milestone for Netflix and film chief Scott Stuber as the studio continues to draw major talent. Netflix has been drawing more and more actors like Will Smith and Brad Pitt, but

Tom Cruise Wows CinemaCon With Story of ‘Mission: Impossible — Fallout’ Stunt

Tom Cruise Wows CinemaCon With Story of ‘Mission: Impossible — Fallout’ Stunt
Tom Cruise returned to CinemaCon on Wednesday with a stunning exploration of his trademark: executing a daredevil stunt.

In this case, Cruise explained the details of a freefall stunt for “Mission: Impossible — Fallout” to a clearly impressed audience at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nev. Cruise fell at 200 mph as agent Ethan Hunt to complete a skydiving scene in the sixth “Mission: Impossible” movie.

“Each take is like running an 800 meter sprint,” a matter-of-fact Cruise said. “We did 106 takes.”

The three-minute scene in “Mission: Impossible — Fallout” takes place above Paris at sunset. Hunt and CIA agent August Walker (Henry Cavill) skydive at 25,000 feet into a lightning storm and are struck by lightening that leaves Walker unconscious, requiring Hunt to somehow catch and revive Walker before they hit the ground.

The sequence, of which the CinemaCon audience was shown raw footage, was shot in the United Arab Emirates and rehearsed at Leavesden Studios in the U.

We first reported on Robopocalypse way back in September 2010, when Steven Spielberg was circling this project to direct, working from an adapted screenplay by Drew Goddard, based on the Daniel H. Wilson novel of the same name. The director was confirmed to direct a month later, and it was
