Callan Green ACS NZCS - Bio - November 2024
Callan is a New Zealand born, prolific award-winning Director of Photography with over 26 years of experience in the camera department. He specialises in Features and TV Series with an additional passion for automotive commercials and music promos.
Recently Callan completed principle photography on Universals NOBODY 2 for 87 North producers David Leitch, Kelly McCormick and Braden Aftergood. NOBODY 2 is directed by Timo Tjahjanto and stars Bob Odenkirk, Connie Nielsen, Christopher Lloyd, Sharon Stone, John Ortiz and Colin Hanks.
His next project will take him to Budapest where he will lead DP the 8 part espionage thriller PONIES which stars Emilia Clarke & Haley Lu Richardson. Director: Susanna Fogel. Show runner: David Iserson. Studios: NBC Universal TV + Peacocke.
Previously Callan was lead DP on "GANGS OF LONDON SERIES 3". Studios : Sky Atlantic/AMC & Pulse Films. Starring Joe Cole and Sopé Dirisu. Directed by Kim Hong Sun.
Prior to that Callan DP'd episodes 5 - 8 of the (8x1hr) Guy Ritchie TV series "THE GENTLEMEN" based off of the movie "The Gentlemen". Directors: Eran Creevy/David Caffrey Producers: Laura Jackson/Hugh Warren, Netflix & Miramax. Starring Theo James, Kaya Scodelario, Vinnie Jones, Daniel Ings and Giancarlo Esposito.
Callan shot 2nd unit for the world renowned "Band of Brothers" Series "MASTERS OF THE AIR" Producers: Tom Hanks & Stephen Spielberg. Directors (Cary Joji Fukunaga & Timothy Van Patten). MU-DP Adam Akapaw
Back in 2019 Callan DP'd the UK based 2nd Unit for Universal Studios' 9th instalment of "The Fast & Furious". 2nd Unit Director JJ Perry. Main Unit Dp Steve Windon. Main Unit Director Justin Lin. He also dp'd various splinter units for "FAST 10" in 2022.
Commercial clients have included: AUDI, Pokémon, Sony Bravia, Cadillac, Tag Heuer, Red Bull, Everlast, Toyota, Johnson and Johnson, Nissan, Mazda, Pepsi, Chevrolet, Bridgestone Tyres, Schweppes, Fiat, Jaguar - Land Rover, Bentley, Mercedes, Prada, Citroen DS, Aston Martin and McLaren.
Callan has shot music videos for Ed Sheeran, George Michael, James Blunt, One Direction, Pale Waves, The Script, Just Banco, Lewis Capaldi, Ellie Goulding, Sam Smith and many more.
Additionally In late 2013 Callan was accredited by the Australian Cinematographers Society, which allows him to use the letters ACS after his name. The same goes for the NZCS who accredited Callan in October 2017. In 2024 Callan received the "New Zealand Cinematographer of the Year" award from the NZCS for his work on episodes 5-8 of The Gentlemen.
Callan lives in SW London with his wife and daughter and is represented by the Worldwide Production Agency (WPA). He holds work visas for the USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia & the UK.
