John Butiu
He was born in Davao City, Philippines in March 15, 1972 and moved to the United States at the age of five. He grew up in New York City, Seattle, and Los Angeles where he attended the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena studying Transportation/Car Design. He is self taught in 3D animation and graphics early in his career.

His parents are Romeo and Aurora Butiu. His main motivation is that he is doing this for his mother, Aurora, who passed away in 1991.

His first big job in the 3D animation industry was at Rhythm & Hues Studios where he worked as a 3D modeler, technical director, and 2D artist on various films, tv commercials, ride films, and video games.

He then worked at several visual effects houses for several years. He has worked at Rhythm and Hues, Walt Disney Feature Animation, Weta Digital in New Zealand, and currently at Sony Pictures Imageworks.
