Thanos Won't Stick Around the McU for Long Warns Josh Brolin
Thanos has been lurking in the shadows of the Marvel Cinematic Universe ever since he first appeared back in 2012's Avengers, in a post-credit scene when Damion Poitier was portraying the character. Josh Brolin took over the character for the first time in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 and again in Avengers: Age of Ultron for brief moments, but Infinity War will be the most that we've ever seen of the character with the still untitled Avengers 4 coming next year. Now, Josh Brolin has hinted that the Mad Titan won't be making it out of the fourth movie alive.

In a recently released interview, Josh Brolin reveals that he likes the Thanos role because it is "finite." The interview took place on the set of Infinity War over the summer and Brolin was asked about juggling Deadpool 2 and the McU altogether. Apparently, it wasn't very hard for Brolin because

Avengers: Infinity War’s Josh Brolin Says Playing Thanos Is “A Finite Thing”

Thanos has been knocking around in the shadows of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for what feels like forever, but the Mad Titan will soon make himself known in Avengers: Infinity War, as he takes on Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in his quest to claim all six Infinity Stones. And, if we’re reading some new comments from actor Josh Brolin correctly, this could be the villain’s final stand, too.

In the same interview in which he confirmed he has plans to star in four films as Cable for Fox, Brolin opened up about how he can fit in his appearances in the X-Men universe alongside his ongoing commitment to the McU. In fact, the star revealed that it might not be a problem in the end, as playing Thanos is apparently “a finite thing.”

“I don’t like the idea of a franchise, personally. That’s what makes the Thanos thing really great.

This New Look At Thanos From The Avengers Will Make You Hope Infinity War Uses More Practical FX

It’s been over four years since the big bad Thanos made his cinematic debut during the mid-credits scene of The Avengers. And while he was initially brought to life with a mixture of CGI and practical makeup effects on actor Damion Poitier, the villain’s next appearances were fully CGI with actor Josh Brolin providing his voice and motion-capture performance. Which might explain why the mad titan appeared a bit less photo-real during his short but sweet cameos in Guardians of the Galaxy and the Avengers: Age of Ultron mid-credits tag. Considering Thanos will be towering over the majority of Earth’s mightiest heroes when he makes a full-fledged return in the two-part (tentatively titled) Avengers: Infinity War films, no one’s saying Marvel and the Russos should ditch CGI for him altogether; that’d be crazy! However, the folks at Ironhead Studios, who created his gold/purple armor

Josh Brolin Heard The Whole Avengers: Infinity War Story And Was “Blown Away”

It is possible that Avengers: Infinity War will present the culmination of what might be the most teased-out role in the history of cinema. Thanos has been presented as being the ‘Biggest Bad’ in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2012, when he made a brief appearance during the credit sequence of The Avengers. Here, he was played by Damion Poitier, and it was not until Guardians Of The Galaxy in 2014 that Josh Brolin assumed the supervillain mantle.

His part in Guardians Of The Galaxy was relatively small, however, though his presence loomed over proceedings like an unshifting shadow. Popping up once more during the credit sequence of Avengers: Age Of Ultron in 2015, we were teased again – making us familiar with his visage and omnipotence, but never really getting to know him. Josh Brolin recently spoke to Moviefone about his non-Marvel role in Hail, Caesar!, but took the opportunity to confirm that

Captain America: Civil War – 11 Things Learned From AsiaPop ComiCon Trailer

© INFphoto.com/INFphoto.com/Corbis

It’s always frustrating sitting on the outside of ComiCons knowing the choice material on show will remain secret to all but those lucky few inside the sardine-crammed screening rooms. That’s basically what the Internet is for most people – a heaving mass of comic book fans trying to beg information with those in the know, and luckily there’s a new answer to that begging in the wake of the new Civil War trailer that screened at AsiaPop.

The trailer – which was initially suggested to be just a recut of the D23 footage – featured some brand new scenes that were conspicuously kept away from pesky Internet leakers with mobile phones trained on the screen by a crack security team. So this time fans are going to have to wait until the official trailer releases to see at least some of that content.

But luckily – and inevitably – some fans,

Photos: Another Familiar Face Spotted On The Set Of Captain America: Civil War

After taking a break for the Memorial Day weekend, Marvel's Captain America: Civil War will pick up principal photography today somewhere in or around Atlanta, Georgia. And while filming on the African Market set had wrapped last week, some overlooked photos have surfaced from the shoot that reveal the return of another actor previously established in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Thanks to a heads up via Cbm users Theace69 and TheAmbassador, the following photos from the Captain America: Civil War set feature Damion Poitier while he's getting a close-up during the sequence in which Cap and his new Avengers battle Crossbones and his goons.

Josh Brolin on the one true love of Guardians of the Galaxy's Thanos

Josh Brolin on the one true love of Guardians of the Galaxy's Thanos
Josh Brolin has teased the future of Thanos in Marvel Studios films.

The actor - who made his debut as the villain in Guardians of the Galaxy - opened up about the character's one true love and revealed that he knows when his next appearance will be.

"His relationship with Death, who is actually the woman, I love that," Brolin told IGN about Thanos's obsession with the Marvel Universe's embodiment of death.

"You can take Sin City and pump it full of steroids, and then you have Thanos. I like that he's motivated by that - not just motivated by destruction or death or this or that. He's motivated by a very identifiable, human trait."

Brolin also revealed that he was in line for at least two more appearances as the so-called Mad Titan.

"I know what one appearance is going to be for sure," he said. "There's one or two that I don't know.

Emily S. Whitten’s Grand San Diego Adventure, Part Two!

  • Comicmix
After reading my Twitter feed one night during Sdcc weekend, my friend (and cool voiceover dude) Bob Joles joked that I was just at Sdcc for the parties. And while that’s not entirely true, I do love a good party and folks at Sdcc host some killer shindigs. I’m eternally sad that I can’t somehow clone myself and be at all of them at once, but I did manage to make it to a good handful this year, so here’s my Sdcc Party Round-Up!

Gabe Eltaeb’s Comics Kickoff Fundraiser with Jinx Clothing

Wednesday night I didn’t actually expect to be at any parties, but I did meet some friends for a late dinner over at Basic Bar & Pizza, and it turned out that Jinx Clothing was co-sponsoring a comics party there with artist Gabe Eltaeb. It was pretty cool! For atmosphere they had the

Marvel Studios: Catching Up With Original Thanos Actor Damion Poitier

Speaking to Blackfilm.com at Sdcc 2014, actor Damion Poitier (who played Thanos in Joss Whedon's Avengers) gave his full support to Josh Brolin, who looks set to play the Mad Titan in his inevitable Avengers 3 showdown with Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk and the rest of the team. Said Damion on his initial discussions with Marvel about continuing in the role, " Initially, they just hired me as a facial figure. In terms of moving forward, I knew that was a question of what happened in between I got it and the next time they would need it. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the exposure we wanted in the interim, but it’s all good. We got good exposure from that scene and we’ll keep moving from there." So does Damion feel any resentment towards Marvel after they turned to Brolin to officially play the role and Guardians of the Galaxy

Damion Poitier on playing Thanos in The Avengers

A couple of weeks back it was revealed that Josh Brolin will lend his voice to Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Age of Ultron as Marvel builds towards an expected showdown between Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and the Mad Titan in The Avengers 3. However, the distinction of being the first actor to portray the cosmic supervillain goes to Damion Poitier (Dollhouse), who played the character for his brief mid-credits cameo in 2012′s The Avengers, and Poitier has discussed the experience during a chat with Geeks With Wives: (via Cbm)…

“I found out when I was in the makeup chair what I was doing. They kept it super quiet because they didn’t wanna put any spoilers out. So they kept it super quiet what I was doing, and I didn’t found out until they were casting my face to do the sculpt. I thought I was gonna be the Super Skrull,

Damion Poitier On Being Thanos; Says He Thought He Would Be Super Skrull

Despite Josh Brolin taking over as Thanos in this summers's Guardians of the Galaxy as well as in 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron, Damion Poitier will still be known as the actor to first play Thanos in the amazing and now-iconic post-credits in Marvel's The Avengers. While he didn't get to talk about the 'Men In Black 3' star taking over as the Mad Titan, he did get to reminisce about his time working with Joss Whedon on the movie. He talked about what it was like when he found out he would be Thanos. "I found out when I was in the makeup chair what I was doing," he revealed. "They kept it super quiet because they didn't wanna put any spoilers out. So they kept it super quiet what I was doing, and I didn't found out until they were casting my face to do the sculpt.

Josh Brolin To Voice Thanos In ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ & ‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’

This just in, sources over at Latino Review have confirmed a surprise appearance of none other than Thanos (yes, that incredibly smiley looking guy in the Avengers Assemble post-credit scene) in the upcoming space-epic Guardians Of The Galaxy and that he will be voiced by Josh Brolin. It is unknown if Damion Poitier will still be physically portraying Thanos, or if Brolin is taking up the mantle as well:

“An article on James Gunn’s post-production process reported a scene with Thanos on a rocket throne in Act 3, which suggests an appearance long enough that someone is going to have to voice the Mad Titan, someone that could take the part into Avengers 3 as a major villain.

That meant Marvel was looking for an actor of some caliber, someone that could give a performance to a very complex, but very purple-skinned alien villain.

Our sources tell us that person is Josh Brolin!

Josh Brolin Is Thanos in Marvel's 'Guardians of the Galaxy'

Josh Brolin Is Thanos in Marvel's 'Guardians of the Galaxy'
Latino Review is back with yet another hot Marvel scoop. This time out, they claim that Josh Brolin has signed onto play Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy, a role that may extend into Avengers: Age of Ultron. Variety has confirmed the news.

This has not been confirmed by Disney or Marvel at this time, and Josh Brolin's reps have no comment. The character was mentioned in a recent unnamed article about direct James Gunn and his post-production process on Guardians of the Galaxy. It states that Thanos appears on a rocket throne in Act 3, leading into the movie's big climax. Thanos will appear on-screen long enough that someone will have to step in and bring him to life.

Thanos first appeared in the Post-Credits scene from Marvel's The Avengers, where he was played Damion Poitier. So far, the character, one of Marvel's biggest and baddest villains, has not

Josh Brolin is Thanos in Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’

The collective Marvel movie news membrane is still trembling after this week’s hard headline that fan-favorite director Edgar Wright dropped out of directing Ant-Man, a project he single-handedly pushed for just about a decade. Update: Josh Brolin To Lend Voice To Thanos In Guardians Of The Galaxy

The folks over at Latino Review have bagged another hot Marvel scoop, and it finally uncovers the big mystery surrounding who exactly will play the big and bad Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy. "Our sources tell us that person is Josh Brolin," reveals the Latino site. Considering the upcoming Marvel space epic is in post-production, Brolin is expected to only provide the voice of the "machiavellian" character as opposed to wearing prosthetics or CG markers. However, given the Oscar-nominated actor's celebrity, and the purple supervillain's 2012 debut in The Avengers (played by Damion Poitier), as well as the fact that Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has said many times that his film is definitely connected to The Avengers 3, expect Brolin to actually portray Thanos against Earth's Mightiest Heroes... eventually. That is of course after they take on James Spader in Avengers: Age of Ultron, in which Variety reports

Exclusive: Josh Brolin To Play Thanos in 'Guardians of the Galaxy'

There's one major Marvel Character in Guardians of the Galaxy that hasn't even been teased in any of the official trailers or stills, and that's Thanos, the big bad guy of the Marvel films.

Thanos made his first appearance onscreen (played by Damion Poitier) at the end of The Avengers, giving an insidious smile when told that attacking Earth is courting death. Or "Death," with a capital D, as the comic book Titan is in love with the physical embodiment of Death.

Thanos is a member of The Eternals, a group of god-like beings with immense power, far beyond that of humans. Thanos is referred to as the “Mad Titan” in the comics for attempting to wipe out the entire human race with his Infinity Gauntlet, capable of manipulating, time, space, reality and even the human soul.

We don't know how big Thanos' plan is, but we know from Thor: The Dark World

The HeyUGuys Summer Preview – Guardians of the Galaxy

To say that we’re looking forward to James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy would be a massive understatement.

As the only original entry in Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it arguably has the most to gain/lose at this stage in the studio’s illustrious career, and everyone’s betting big that it’s going to be one of the best movies of the summer blockbuster season. And if they’re not, they should be.

Gunn has a proven track record of bringing the weird and wonderful to light with a unique vision (see Slither and Super), and with characters like Rocket Racoon and Groot, the latter a tree that appears to only repeat ‘I am Groot’ when it talks, you need a visionary filmmaker like that to do it justice.

Up until The Avengers, the McU was grounded in reality. Albeit a reality with superheroes and demigods from different realms,
