Rockers Joe Elliott, Joey Santiago, Al Jourgensen Set for Film Debuts Via Indiegogo Campaign
Joe Elliott of Def Leppard, Joey Santiago of the Pixies, Al Jourgensen of Ministry, and Eddie Ojeda of Twisted Sister are making their feature film debuts in “The Bridge” through an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign, Variety has learned exclusively.

The project also includes Tiny Biuso of Tsol, Ricky Warwick of Black Star Riders/Thin Lizzy and Sin Quirin of Ministry.

Producers are Denise Bohdan and Jason Gurvitz with Bobby Field directing from his own script, which centers around the story of a small town musical prodigy who must free himself from the shadows of his past or continue down a path of self-destruction.

The $300,000 crowdfunding campaign will offer fans experiences like building their own guitar at the Fender Factory with Jourgensen, Quirin or Santiago; an Elliott Telecaster Guitar; and Santiago making a spaghetti dinner at a fan’s home.

Afm: Ambitious Madremonte Project Sets Slate of Genre Pics (Exclusive)
The Madremonte Project, an ambitious slate of lower-budget English-language genre films that will all be shot in Colombia, has selected its first productions.

All five movies in the lineup will be produced by Jason Gurvitz’s Green Dog Films and Deborah Del Prete’s Coronet Films in Los Angeles and Diego Ramirez’s Colombia-based 64-a Films. They will introduce the crowd-sourced Madremonte projects, chosen from 486 submissions, at the American Film Market.

Peter Wetherell serves as the sales rep for the slate.

The five films include Chris Gerolmo’s 1950s U.S.-set “The Horror” centers on an African-American family that fight back after being attacked by the Ku-Klux Klan; and Timothy Linh Bui will direct “The Unseen,” an creature feature with an ensemble cast set in Vietnam’s jungle, Gurvitz said.

How Colombia Lures International Filmmakers

Colombia is the location du jour for a growing number of international filmmakers thanks to a film law launched in January 2013 and an incentive package that consists of a 40% cash rebate on qualified spend and a 20% cash rebate on logistical expenditures including hotels, catering and transport.

Per film commissioner Silvia Echeverri, at least four international pics are expected to shoot in Colombia this year, lured by the new initiative that officials estimate will generate close to 11,000 film industry jobs and new business totaling nearly $200 million in the next five years.

Phoenix Pictures’ Chilean miner saga “The 33” was the first to avail itself of the location shoot incentives for feature films and TV movies spending a minimum of $600,000 in the country.

Leading Colombian shingle Dynamo provided production services for the five-week shoot on “The 33,” directed by Patricia Riggen and starring Antonio Banderas.

‘Lost’ Actress Emilie de Ravin To Star in Indie ‘The Submarine Kid’
Lost” and “Once Upon a Time” thesp Emilie de Ravin is set to star alongside Finn Wittrock in the indie drama “The Submarine Kid.”

Pic will be helmed by Eric Bilitch, who also co-wrote the script with Wittrock.

Story follows a U.S. Marine, played by Wittrock, who returns home from a horrific wartime experience and begins to gravitate towards a mysterious woman, played by de Ravin, on her own journey. Together, they enter into a magical and destructive new existence to expose their ultimate truths.

Deborah Del Prete of Coronet Films is producing with Jason Gurvitz of Green Dog Films, while Monica Raymund and John Styles are executive producing.

De Ravin is repped by Gersh and manager Darren Goldberg and can still be seen as Belle on ABC’s “Once Upon a Time.”

Bogota – More than anything else, the 4th Bogota Audiovisual Market underscored the rapid re-positioning of Colombia’s burgeoning film industry.

Late last decade, Colombian movies were a mostly local affair with occasional festival hit breakouts. By mid-2013, at least the high-end of Colombia’s movie production sector is an emerging international film force looking to the U.S. for next phase growth.

This, moreover, is two-way traffic. As top production houses – Rcn Cine, 64A Films, Rhayuela, 11:11 - drive into English-language fare, a clutch of U.S.-based directors, producers and screenwriters are reaching out to Colombia to shoot films there.

Kicking in this Jan, new Colombian Law 1556 rebates – reaching up to 40% of production and Colombian labor expenditures and 20% of spend on accommodation, catering and transport – look set to attract U.S. and Canadian shoots lensing in Colombia.

Green Dog, 64A Create Genre Production Alliance
Bogota – In the latest U.S.-Colombia production link-up, consolidating a building international production axis, Jason Gurvitz’s Green Dog Films in L.A. and Diego Ramirez’s Bogota/Cali-based 64A-Films are teaming to co-produce a five-pic slate of horror movies, all of which will shoot in Colombia.

One of Colombia’s most sought-after young directors, 64A partner Carlos Moreno (“Dog Eat Dog,” “All Your Dead Ones,” “The Snitch Cartel”) has committed to direct one movie in the slate. Moreno will also take an exec producer credit on the five films, and help to oversee the slate’s storytelling. Alonso Torres, Moreno’s regular co-scribe, will act as script consultant.

A sizeable addition to Colombia’s burgeoning genre production scene, which is attracting an increasing number of international partners, the production pact looks like one of the biggest deals to go down at the Bogota Audiovisual Market.

For his genre debut, up-and-coming filmmaker Michael Ojeda is ready to give viewers a revenge tale unlike anything they've ever seen before in the indie feature Savaged. Read on for the goods.

Savaged is the brutal tale of a deaf woman named Zoe (Amanda Adrienne) who is tortured and killed by a gang of racist rednecks in the middle of the desert while traveling cross-country to meet her fiancé. A mysterious shaman happens to find her lifeless body so he uses it as a way to resurrect an ancient Apache Warrior who wants to hunt down the murderous group and make them pay for the sins of their ancestors.

Co-produced and co-financed by Raven Banner Entertainment and Cart Before the Horse Productions LLC and co-produced by Green Dog Films and Reigning Entertainment, Savaged recently wrapped production north of Los Angeles and is currently gearing up for a 2012-2013 festival run.

Get Ready to Get Savaged: First Concept Poster

Raven Banner Entertainment, Green Dog Films and Reigning Entertainment will triple team on film production of Savaged. This title is in the early production stages with shooting expected to begin later this week. To be lensed is Zoe, played by Amanda Adrienne, a vulnerable woman abducted by "a murderous gang" (Raven). She survives the ordeal only to be used by Native American Shaman in a demonic ritual. This tale of brutality and the supernatural will then turn to one of revenge as Zoe channels an ancient Apache warrior on those who have wronged her.
