Mike's daughter, Laura Resnick, was born in 1962, and is also a writer; she has won awards for her romance novels and the 1993 Campbell Award for Best New Science Fiction Writer.
Voted the 2004 Author of the Year on Fictionwise.com in an open competition, beating out the likes of Stephen King, Dan Brown, and Isaac Asimov.
A Nebula Award winner and 11 time nominee. He has been nominated for the Hugo Award an astonishing 31 times, with five wins.
