Mari Joy (she/her), also known as Joy Asiado, is a Manila-raised and Chicago-based Filipino actress with a diverse range of credits in theater and film. Renowned for her versatility and depth, Mari has garnered acclaim for her roles across various platforms.
In the one-person play "Every Brilliant Thing," Mari captivated audiences as the Narrator, delivering a performance that garnered glowing reviews when it ran in February 2024 in Utah. Notably, Mari Joy starred as Lark Timon in the premiere of "MESTIZA, or MIXED" by Melissa Leilani Larson, a production hailed as Utah's first majority-cast Filipino play. In the realm of film, she portrayed Erica in the short "POOLSIDE INN," which premiered at the Palm Springs Film Festival and was shown in FilmQuest, the Golden State Gate Film Festival, and CLIMAX.
In 2023, she graduated with a BFA in acting from BYU. Beyond her stage and screen roles, Mari has also been actively involved in developing independent films and TV pilots around Chicago, practicing her love for storytelling through different mediums.
