International documentary sales company Reservoir Docs has acquired Danish doc “Dark Blossom” ahead of its upcoming world premiere and international screenings at Cph:dox and Hot Docs respectively. Reservoir Docs has secured exclusive worldwide sales rights, with the exception of Denmark.
The feature debut of documentary filmmaker-music video director Frigge Fri, “Dark Blossom” is a visually and musically immersive story of three young Danish Goths who express their strong friendship through a shared love of darkness, macabre make-up and fashion, and social media expression. They channel a shared fascination with death to combat loneliness, inner demons, and the prejudices of small town life. But when one of them falls in love and plans an escape from the countryside, their deep bond is inexorably threatened.
“Dark Blossom,” a Made In Copenhagen production, was directed, written, and lensed by Fri, produced by Mathilde Hvid Lippmann, and executive produced by company CEO Helle Faber.

Copenhagen-based Dr Sales has picked up world rights to the Faroe Islands-set coming-of-age documentary “Skál,” produced by established production outfit Made in Copenhagen. Variety has been given exclusive access to the international trailer.

Michael Moore’s “Fahrenheit 11/9,” Netflix’s “Shirkers,” and Hulu’s “Minding the Gap” were among the other high-profile titles unveiled on Tuesday.
Morgan Neville’s Fred Rogers story “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” has grossed $22.6 million domestically since its release in June, making it the 12th-highest-grossing doc of all time. Tim Wardle’s “Three Identical Strangers” has also performed well with $12.3 million and is 26th on the list. “Fahrenheit 11/9” has reeled in $6 million since its Sept. 20 launch — far below the record $119 million grossed by Moore’s “Fahrenheit 9/11” in 2004.

The projects are from the likes of established directors such as Maxim Pozdorovkin (Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer), Guy Davidi (5 Broken Cameras), Camilla Nielsson (Democrats), Anna Eborn (Pine Ridge) and Grant Gee (Meeting People is Easy).
Topics range from a family trying to find their own utopia in an organic village; a portrait of Lee Miller; the filmic obsessions of Lars von Trier; and Chinese women trying to find a partner by age 27.

Kino Lorber has acquired all North American rights to documentary Putin's Kiss. The acquisition was made at Idfa, where the Monday Production film had its world premiere in the Idfa feature documentary competition, and was negotiated by Kino Lorber vice president Elizabeth Sheldon and Helle Faber of Made in Copenhagen.
