Joseph Chih is an M.F.A. candidate in Film Directing at the California Institute of the Arts (Class of 2023). He studied film and cinematography at Syracuse University, College of Visual and Performing Arts, in Syracuse, NY. In his films, he strives to create a meditative type of cinema, where he uses visual images of landscapes to create associations to pursue an interesting narrative. He is especially interested in stories that explore a sense of estrangement in intimate relationships and how it could transform.
He has written and directed several short films that have been selected by film festivals such as the Syracuse International Film festival, and the 3rd New Era Film Festival.
