DC’s Stargirl TV series has seen its release date shift slightly…but not too much! Originally scheduled to premiere on Monday, May 11 on the DC Universe streaming service with a broadcast to follow on the CW on Tuesday, May 12, Stargirl will now arrive on DC Universe a week later, on Monday, May 18 instead, with the CW broadcast to follow on Tuesday, May 19th. The premiere date shift might reflect a need for The CW to fill holes in its schedule since the latter episodes of most of its heavy hitters like The Flash, Supernatural, Supergirl, Batwoman, and others have been temporarily delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
But the good news is that from that point forward it looks like the rest of the series is right on schedule, and DC Universe and The CW have confirmed air dates and revealed official details about the first five episodes!
Just a quick note,...

ABC has put in development Americanized, a half-hour comedy inspired by Sara Saedi’s memoir Americanized: Rebel Without A Green Card, from Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine and ABC Studios, where Hello Sunshine has a broadcast overall deal.
Written by Saedi (iZombie), Americanized tells the story of a loving and off-beat Iranian family who’s been living with a huge secret: they’re undocumented immigrants. Told through an irreverent, heartfelt and a-political lens, the series will give viewers a window into the life of a Middle-Eastern household while exploring the universal truths that bond every type of “American” family.
In the book, Saedi shares her story of growing up in San Jose, California in a loving Iranian family and her shock when she discovers she and the rest of her family are undocumented.
Saidi executive produces with Hello Sunshine’s Witherspoon and Lauren Levy Neustadter. ABC Studios is the studio.

Kristen Wiig is stepping down as star of the half-hour comedy series being developed for Apple by Reese Witherspoon, due to scheduling conflicts with the production of the “Wonder Woman” sequel, an individual with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap. The show is now on hold as Apple and the show’s producers consider their options, including finding a new lead actress.
Inspired by Curtis Sittenfeld’s upcoming short story collection “You Think It, I’ll Say It,” the project from Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine received a 10-episode order, and was set to become Apple’s first half-hour scripted comedy. Wiig signed onto the series when it was ordered in January, and was set to executive produce as well as star.

Kristen Wiig has departed Apple’s adaptation of Curtis Sittenfield’s upcoming collection of short stories, “You Think It, I’ll Say It,” Variety has confirmed.
An Apple Worldwide Video spokeswoman confirmed the exit is a result of conflicts with Wiig’s shooting schedule for “Wonder Woman 1984,” in which she plays the villain Cheetah.
The 10-episode straight to series order marked Apple’s first scripted comedy order. The role would have been Wiig’s first return to television since her 2005-2012 stint on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.” Sources say Apple is still eager to develop the series and that producers are regrouping.
Wiig has focused predominantly on feature films since “SNL,” including her lauded role on 2011’s “Bridesmaids,” for which she earned an Oscar nom as a co-writer on the original screenplay. She also appeared in 2017’s “Downsizing,” starring Matt Damon, and Paul Feig’s 2016 women-led reboot of “Ghostbusters” alongside Melissa McCarthy,...

Reese Witherspoon is an Academy Award-winning actress, but in a few short years, she has transformed herself into an Emmy-winning mega TV producer with no fewer than five series in the works. She won’t star in all of them — she’s only one woman! — but they will feature some A-list talent and she will produce them all, so she could have a whole bunch of Emmys coming her way. And frankly, we’d watch all of these. But which one are you most excited for? Let’s break them down.

SNL alum Kristen Wiig is set to star in a new comedy series being produced by Reese Witherspoon. Apple just landed the 10-episode series, which is inspired by Curtis Sittenfeld's upcoming short-story collection You Think It, I'll Say It.

12 Years A Slave and Gravity have tied at this year’s PGA. With American Hustle taking the SAG ensemble on Saturday night, we have a bonafide Best Picture race on our hands folks! This is the first tie for the top film in Producers Guild Award history.
The PGA split keeps the Oscar race wide open in one of the tightest three-way battles in years, with “American Hustle” still in the game following a week of big showings at the Golden Globes, Oscar nominations and Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Tonight the Producers Guild of America (PGA) announced this year’s winning motion picture and television productions at the 25th Annual Producers Guild Awards ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.

Plenty of groups give out awards for excellence in film and television at the end of every year, but no set of nominations is watched more carefully by Oscar predictors than the picks from the Producers Guild. That’s because year after year their choices end up being a fairly good indicator of which films will also be granted Best Picture nominations when the Academy makes their selections.
The Guild has announced their 2014 nominations today and there aren’t really any major surprises here. All the expected films are present, including 12 Years A Slave, American Hustle, Captain Phillips, Gravity, Her and The Wolf Of Wall Street. Animated films that nabbed nominations are The Croods, Despicable Me 2, Epic, Frozen and Monsters University. Included in the documentary nominations are A Place at the Table, Far Out Isn’t Far Enough: The Tomi Ungerer Story, Life According to Sam, We Steal Secrets: The Story of Wikileaks...

The Producers Guild of America has accurately forecast the last six Best Picture Oscar winners, so it was good news for 10 films that were nominated today for the PGA’s Darryl F. Zanuck Award. While Gravity, 12 Years a Slave, and American Hustle were among the films that made the cut, Inside Llewyn Davis, The Butler, and Fruitvale Station did not. Last year, eight of the 10 movies that received nods from the PGA went on to earn Oscar nominations for Best Picture.

Tina Fey is staying in the NBC family with a new comedy series that's bypassing the pilot process and going straight on the network's schedule next fall.
Ellie Kemper ("The Office") will star in the series, which Fey and her fellow "30 Rock" executive producer Robert Carlock are creating. NBC has given it a 13-episode order for fall 2014.
The currently untitled show centers on a woman (Kemper) who escapes from a doomsday cult and tries to start a new life in New York. In addition to writing, Fey and Carlock will executive produce with another "30 Rock" veteran, David Miner.
"Tina and Robert ... have created a new signature comedy for us that is audacious, emotional and clever," NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt says. "While tapping into very relatable themes, there isn't anything like this anywhere else on television. NBC has been their home for many years and we're so happy that they've...

Fox has ordered a new untitled comedy from Tina Fey straight to series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The multicamera comedy is set in a women's college that is opening its doors to male students for the first time, and hails from Fey and fellow "30 Rock" executive producers Matt Hubbard and Robert Carlock. Hubbard is set to write the half-hour project, while Fey has no plans to star.
After NBC acquired Fey's first post-"30 Rock" project from writer Colleen McGuinness (also an alum of the Fey/Alec Baldwin comedy), interest among the networks was high for the college comedy, which reportedly sparked a bidding war.
Fey is under a four-year overall production deal at Universal Television, which is already proving lucrative given the interest in both new series. The actress, who's up for an Emmy this year for her work on the final season of "30 Rock," is also working on...

In a very competitive situation with multiple networks bidding, a multi-camera comedy from 30 Rock co-executive producer Matt Hubbard, creator/co-showrunner Tina Fey and co-showrunner Robert Carlock has landed at Fox with a series commitment. The project is set at a women’s college that, for the first time in its history, begins accepting men. It hails from Universal Television where Hubbard, Fey and Carlock are under overall deals, and Fey’s Little Stranger. This marks the second sale for Little Stranger this week. The company, in its first development season under a four-year deal Fey inked with Uni TV last fall, set up a single-camera comedy penned by another former 30 Rock writer-producer, Colleen McGuinness, at NBC. That project Fey also executive produces with Carlock who love working together and share offices in New York. Hubbard is writing the Fox project, which he is executive producing with Fey, Carlock and 3 Arts’ David Miner.

Tina Fey is getting a few members of the "30 Rock" band back together at NBC.
Fey and Robert Carlock, her co-showrunner on "30 Rock," will executive produce a comedy pilot for the network, Deadline reports. Colleen McGuinness, a writer and producer on the final two seasons of the series, is writing the script.
The untitled show centers on a young woman who, in hopes of reconnecting with her dad, moves to New York's Fire Island and finds a surrogate family at her new job. McGuinness will executive produce alongside Fey and Carlock.
Fey signed a four-year development deal with Universal Television last year as "30 Rock" was entering its final season. The McGuinness comedy is the first show developed under that deal.

The Amazing Spider-Man‘s Rhys Ifans has joined Showtime’s buzzy comedy pilot Trending Down.
The project, described as a “blistering attack on our youth-obsessed culture,” centers on Thom Payne (played by Philip Seymour Hoffman), a man facing his own obsolescence after his ad agency is taken over. Ifans will play Payne’s boss. Kathryn Hahn (Parks and Recreation) also co-stars.
Best known from his big-screen offerings, Ifans’ other credits include Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, The Five-Year Engagement and Notting Hill.

Although 30 Rock is really and truly over, having answered its central mystery of “What is the island?” back in January (answer: Manhattan), Tina Fey is producing another NBC show that could potentially fill the void. Fey, her 30 Rock co-showrunner Robert Carlock, and 30 Rock writer-producer Colleen McGuinness have just sold the network another “female-centered workplace project”—one described as “in the vein of Cheers,” which we guess means beer will be served, maybe. Less than a year after "30 Rock" wrapped up, Tina Fey is officially returning to NBC, according to Deadline. Fey's new project -- which she will executive produce along with "30 Rock" co-showrunner Robert Carlock -- won't have the extensive involvement the writer, actress and comedian brought to her seven-year run with Alec Baldwin and company. Instead, "30 Rock" writer-producer Colleen McGuinness will run the show with Fey and Carlock's backing. But here's the really interesting part (at least as far as we're concerned). Deadline reports that the comedy -- "in the vein of 'Cheers'" -- would be a character-driven workplace series "where a young woman in search of reconnecting with her father finds a new home and family on Fire Island." They didn't name the state, so we suppose there's a minuscule chance they mean this Fire Island, but in all likelihood they of course mean this one. Which makes us want...

Tina Fey has a new comedy in the works!
According to Deadline, NBC bought a comedy project from "30 Rock" writer Colleen McGuinness, executive produced by Fey and her "30 Rock" partner Robert Carlock.
The pilot, which follows a young woman who reconnects with her father and finds a new home on Fire Island, is the first project for Fey's production company since she signed a new deal with Universal Television in the fall of 2012. Under her new pact, Fey will executive produce, create and possibly star in new projects.
"She's been a cornerstone of the network for over the past 10 years and there was just no way we were going to let her get away," Robert Greenblatt, NBC Entertainment chairman, said of Fey in 2012. "It's a measure of our esteem for her as a writer, actress and producer -- she's in a class by herself."

What the what?! Sadly, 30 Rock ended its seven-season run in January. But that doesn’t mean we’re ready to stop talking about the beloved Tina Fey comedy. Thankfully, the Paley Center agrees. 30 Rock, Season 7, Episode 8, “My Whole Life is Thunder”
Written by Jack Burditt & Colleen McGuinness
Directed by Linda Mendoza
Airs Thursdays at 8pm Et on NBC
Is there a show outside of 30 Rock that would be audacious enough to follow one wedding episode with another? Perhaps “wedding episode” is a misnomer, as the actual wedding is buried in the post-episode tag, but the threat of Jenna’s wedding (to Paul, who it had seemed the show had forgotten this season) is pervasive, inspiring thoughts of ‘Could they? No, they wouldn’t…” until they finally do. This is yet another example of the startling liveliness 30 Rock has recovered in the face of its imminent demise.
If last week’s episode seemed preoccupied with mortality, “My Whole Life is Thunder”—a rather ominous title—goes all in and features a funeral, that of Jack’s mother, Colleen. That her funeral ends up being...

Community, Season 3, Episode 11, “Urban Matrimony and Sandwich Arts”
Written by Vera Santamaria
Directed by Kyle Newacheck
Airs Thursdays at 8pm Et on NBC
So, Community’s back. Maybe not with the high concept episode with meta-commentary on its absence fans were hoping for but a solid half-hour none the less. Community has always been an uneven show, tending to balance its crazier episodes with more down to earth spins on general sitcom tropes. When it comes to the former, even when it misses its worth watching just for the level of sheer tenacity on display and when it hits there is no better show on television (see “Critical Film Studies”). As for the latter, well, it seems that for every “Mixology Certification” we get two like the one where Chang moves in with Jeff. “Urban Matrimony and Sandwich Arts” is definitely one of the stronger “sitcommy” episodes the show has aired.
