Den of Thieves director discusses the plot for the sequel

Back in February it was announced that writer-director Christian Gudegast would be reuniting with Gerard Butler, Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson and O’Shea Jackson Jr. for a sequel to this year’s heist thriller Den of Thieves.

During an interview with Screen Rant, the filmmaker has been chatting about the plans for the follow-up, which will take inspiration from the 2003 Antwerp diamond heist and focus on Nick’s (Butler) pursuit of Donnie (Jackson).

“Every studio wants a little mini-franchise if possible. Thankfully, thank god, we’re all very fortunate that it did very well and now we’re going to do a sequel which is great. But that initially the plan. That’s just something that sort of you know as we were making it and we were feeling that the twist was working, and it setting up well for a sequel – if it performed, that we would do one.

Starz drama Power is the second-most watched premium cable series after Game of Thrones, so it couldn't possibly not return for a fifth season. So now the question is, when will Power be back on? The series will officially return on Sunday, July 1 — so we are only a few months away. Frustratingly, though, we might have gotten the show back sooner if it hadn't been for a feud between Starz and cable provider Optimum, as Power star and executive producer 50 Cent alleged. "I was trying to bring the show back early this year," the rapper wrote on Instagram. "Now this. You have to call into Optimum. They are holding up your show." .@OmariHardwick, @naturinaughton, and the #PowerTV crew are back at it. Season 5 production is officially underway. pic.twitter.com/fQ1fVmxEcP— Power (@Power_STARZ) September 20, 2017 Luckily, the two companies settled their differences, but that ordeal wasn't the only

The “Get Rich or Die Tryin'” rapper grabbed headlines last month when TMZ reported he’d earned a cool 700 bitcoin — worth more than $7 million today — for his 2014 album “Animal Ambition.” But in bankruptcy court documents grabbed by The Blast, “Fiddy,” Aka Curtis Jackson, admitted he doesn’t “personally own, and have not owned, either a bitcoin account or any bitcoins.” Here’s what happened: his site did accept bitcoin as a form of payment for the album, but immediately converted it to...

Berlinale Drama Series Days Sees American TV Playing to the World

A number of American drama series imports are hitting Berlinale’s Drama Series Days, but despite depicting a variety of States-specific stories — such as the politics and power battles in the American high school system in Jack Ferry and Ryan Hunter’s “Mr. Student Body President”; the rivalry between the FBI and the CIA in Dan Futterman’s “The Looming Tower”; or gang culture on the streets and within the police force in Joe Halpin’s “The Oath” — producers are preparing for international audiences.

“It’s informed by a life I used to live, so it’s definitely rooted in the American police infrastructure,” Halpin says about “The Oath.” “But I think an international audience can empathize with it because any power structure, when it gets corrupted, I think everybody throughout the world experiences that.”

The Oath” was also designed around the theme of family, which Halpin says will also speak universally.

“[Family] resonates in every

Review: Den of Thieves

This is the Pure Movies review of Den of Thieves, directed by Christian Gudegast and starring Gerard Butler, Pablo Schreiber, O'Shea Jackson Jr. and 50 Cent. It’s the start of 2018 and we always need another heist movie in these cold winter months to get the blood flowing. It’s irrelevant that Den of Thieves feels like a Heat copycat, with the age-old ‘cop versus robber’ cat-and-mouse game at play, it has up-to-date effects and weaponry to enjoy. Ignore the fact that the gamble is on-screen tough guy Gerard Butler to bring home the goods, especially in what are notoriously ‘slow months’ for any release while the big awards season proceeds.
