Lina Breining

Lina Breining is an NYC based composer and pianist from Austin, TX. Most recently, she worked as an orchestra production assistant on the 76th & 77th Annual Tony Awards. With a background in classical piano, strings, and percussion, Lina's musical style seeks to blend the traditional lush Hollywood orchestral style with her own musical voice featuring lyrical melodies and always with a strong focus on conveying story. In addition to composing, Lina is also a skilled orchestrator & arranger, transcriber, mixer, sound designer, and video editor. Lina is a proud recent graduate of New York University's Screen Scoring Masters program ('24).
Lina has collaborated with filmmakers from the American Film Institute, NYU' Tisch School of the Arts, the School of Visual Arts, and the University of Texas at Austin, to name a few. Additionally, Lina's music has been heard internationally and at various film festival including the Oscar qualifying AFI Fest and the Rhode Island International Film Festival. Her works have been performed by the NYU Orchestra and the Budapest Symphony Orchestra. Lina's works have been praised and critiqued by notable film composers including: Blake Neely (You Netflix Series), Jeff Beal (House of Cards), Marcelo Carves (Wonder), Pete Nashel (I, Tonya), Carlos Rafael Rivera (the Queen's Gambit) and Homay Schmitz (composer for Spitfire Audio).
Lina has studied under numerous concert & screen composers including award winning composers Mark Suozzo, Alba Torremocha, and 5 time Emmy Award winning composer, Jamie Lawrence. Lina holds a Master of Music in Music Theory and Composition: Screen Scoring from New York University. Additionally, she holds two bachelor degrees (Bachelor of Science in Fine Arts in Entertainment Technologies and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Composition) from the University of Texas at Austin. When she's not busy writing, Lina can be found exploring a new park, or attempting to pet the nearest dog.
