Alan Friel is a director and screenwriter who in 2022 directed his first feature film 'Woken' that stars Erin Kellyman (Star Wars Solo) and Maxine Peake (The Theory of Everything).
Alan has received multiple awards for his TV commercials and his 2017 short 'Cake' starring Letitia Wright (Black Panther) and Maxine Peake won Best Short Comedy at the London Independent Film Awards and Best International Short at the Kinsale Shark Awards. His 2015 short 'Sophie At The Races' won Best Screenplay at the Fastnet Film Festival and Best Actress at the European Independent Film festival.
Alan studied fine art before moving into film and has written screenplays for Screen Ireland, Bad Robot and Paramount Studios. He has feature projects with with Sleeper Films, Rocliffe Films and Underground Films and he is attached to direct a TV series that is in development with Film Nation.
