-Born in the small town of Magog, having grown up in Quebec and now well settled in Montreal (in Canada), Rafaël Beauchamp is a screenwriter and director who graduated from the University of Quebec in Montreal in cinema. During his studies, he directed two short films, allowing him to shine in local and international film festivals. Fresh out of the school benches, his screenplay "Les battues" wins the grand prize of the writing laboratory "Cours écrire ton court", organized by the SODEC. A great lover of genre film, he tries to import cinema from elsewhere into the local filmography. He is currently working on the development of two short fiction films as well as the writing of a first feature film.
During his studies at UQAM, Rafaël directs "La Crise", a short film selected in many internationals festivals. His first documentary short, Beyond the Void, notably wins the ARRQ's grant for best director of his cohort, as well as travelling around the globe.
Right out of university, his script for the short film "Les battues" wins the 2021 edition of the creative lab Cours écrire ton court. After having won the Bourse de l'Académie pour la relève in 2021, he now works at Telescope Films, as well as working on a webserie, as well as developing a new short film as well as his first feature film.
