Producer/Writer/Partner and General Manager of Claxson Interactive Group
Born in Argentina, Entrepreneur Mariano Varela has ventured into many diverse business and activities. He is currently partner and General Manager of Claxson Interactive Group, a leading media company that produces and distributes television contents across traditional television and digital platforms with operations in Buenos Aires, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Miami and extensive presence in Lima, Bogota and Mexico City; founder of the production company Yulgok Media. He has also participated in the creation of one of the most successful Internet Start-ups in Latin America, "El sitio.com", and successfully launched its IPO in the NASDAQ (LCTO). Prior to joining Elsitio.com, Mr. Varela held executive advertising positions at Leo Burnett Worldwide Inc. and Young & Rubicam where he lead the advertising and communication strategy for large companies such as: The Coca-Cola Company, Procter & Gamble, Kellogg's among others. Mr. Varela is the author of the international best seller book "Todo es Personal" published by Grupo Carvajal and published in more than 20 countries, and the creator of "The Digital Marketing Executive Program" at the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella one of the most prestigious Business Schools in Latin-America. He also mentored several ventures in the social media and digital advertising. During his career, Mr. Varela was awarded several prizes and recognitions including the Jerry Goldenberg award as Media Executive of the Year in Argentina, The Premio Mercurio Award granted by The Argentina Marketing Association (AMA). He also won the Martin Fierro award for best television production among many other International Advertising and Television awards. Mr. Varela holds a degree in Communications Sciences from Universidad del Salvador, Argentina. He lives in Miami, Florida with his two daughters.
